Everyone loves modding. You get a chance to experience a game in a whole new way! That is, except for game developers. Modding doesn't hurt anybody, and it gives players more fun out of a game. My favorite part of halo CE was jumping on health packs and getting out of blood gultch.yet for some reason, game delovpers despise this art, and punish those who practice it. For example, in halo 3, if you were found with a modded map in a public fileshare, your map, video, and screenshot privileges were revoked. Anyone feel the same way as I do?

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Game developers like modding too. Just not for consoles.

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

When modding, you are obviously going to end up with something better than what Bungie restricted you to.

That's my point. I just don't understand why they don't, it's harmless and gives more enjoyment.

With consoles, it's a little more difficult to determine whether or not those mods are used for cheating. So they just prohibit all of it, whether you mod to cheat or not.

Either that or developers are lazy.

Well I can see why they do that, but I think they are getting lazy. If they wanted to, they could design a filter that separates cheating mods from others, or only allow mods in private games, to edit a map let's say.

Either that or developers are lazy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

They don't want to end up with a repeat of Halo 2 Xbox. Everyone was matchmaking modding, and it got even easier when the 360 came out, since you didn't need to softmod and risk getting your console banned.

That's also why you can't use memory cards on the 360 for xbox 1 games, as people used memory cards to softmod the xbox 1.

Some console games do support modding like UT3 PS3, but those are a rarity.

Because people abuse that ability to make the game unfair. Console developers want control on their stuff.

I know, but I think they're just being lazy. Why not allow modding only on custom or private matches, or build a filtration system that separates "good" from "bad" modding. A game with the quality of halo that supports modding would generate HUGE revenue, and the community would love it.

There's already one, it's called CoD4 PC.

Yes, but I meant along the lines of a halo game

Modders = People who modify the game in a way like adding new weapons, vehicles, and entire maps to the game. Customizing certain aspects of things that were already there as well. Things that one has to download to use as well, unless, on a server that modder is hosting if it's not a major mod.

Hackers = People who use things such as aimbot, the ability to shoot through walls, making your player faster than others, and all of that stuff.

People can't ruin Matchmaking with modding because mods can't effect Matchmaking. Hacks do. I blame bad terminology on the hate towards modders from console gamers.
