I have wondered, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this, how Bungie is going to balance out the gameplay in Halo 2 (Campaign) with the destructive vehicles. Say for instance you're in a huge (Campaign) level and all the vehicles get destroyed... wouldn't it take an insane amount of time just to get around the level? If there are going to be different types of soldiers, (snipers, artillary men, drivers, special forces, etc.) why not just make it that there would be a mechanic soldier. This would be an excellent feature for many reasons. One, you would feel you have to protect the soldiers to a certain degree... this would cause you to make better strategies. Two, it would help balance the game out, being if your Warthog was hit by a Wrath tank and all you had to do was drive over a repair kit or go back to the vehicle respawn point and move on... it would kind of defeat the purpose of having destructible vehicles. It would also make Halo 2 that more realistic, which to some people is a bad thing?
Finally, if all the vehicles and soldiers did get destroyed/killed, you couldn't curse Bungie for making the level so frickin huge... you would have to blame yourself for not protecting your soldiers and vehicles, which ultimatly means you should work on a new strategy. The mechanic soldier would only work in Campaign mode, there probably won't be soldiers in MP. So in MP there should maybe be a repair kit or respawn point... being that gameplay in MP and Campaign mode are completlly different. A repair kit or respawn point in MP wouldn't defeat the purpose of having destructable vehicles. What do you guys think? Do you have any other ideas on how this may work out?
