Subject: Who would win? Rtas' or Cole?

I'm not sure what you're looking for.

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" -- Proverbs 12:18

On a even scale. Both would know their ships inside and out, have a crew that follow orders precisely, and had a full bay of equally matched fighters. And remove your preference of species.

I personally think Cole would win, as he challenged and beat a covenant fleet with a ships far from being close to the covie tech. Sure he died later, but that was his choice.

Rtas, because Cole, as many other of Eric Nylund's creations, is a goddamn Mary Sue.

Rtas

The Shadow of Intent Vs The Everest is a pretty lop-sided fight to begin with.

Now add to it Rtas, who can take a fleet of equally tech'd ships 3 to 1...

Wake me when the jews are gone.

Cole is unmached both in tatics and inteligence and he's not dead he only lost to his wife that later helped him he is the reincarnation of general sheridan and atena
Surrender to his migthy power or die

Cole would have a 10-to-1 advantage from the start, that's what his victories were all about. If not, he'd lose unless he managed to blow a star up.

Rtas' is pretty meh. All he does is trust on his shipmasters to handle the fight. It feels like both players, despite being known in the end of their fame as fleet commanders, would both be more suited to a much smaller encounter. Cole's "surrender-and-destroy" attacking Rtas' honor, versus Rtas' original career as a special operations leader.

Cole is the most BAMF in space (aside from Adama.) He'd beat R'tas any day.

  • 01.03.2011 4:57 PM PDT

Yes... I can dodge ducks... and slow moving bullets.

Adama you say, I wonder if a Battlestar could take on a Covenant Assault Carrier

If Adama was piloting it a Battlestar could take on High Charity. The Cylon colony was about that size, after all.

I thought it was Newton?

I am a monument to all your sins

Rtas, even with Cole's tactics he still needs a superior force to beat even the average fleet master. Covenant tech is just to good to beat without a numerical advantage (with some rare exceptions like the keyes loop). with a fleetmaster like Rtas, Cole wouldnt stand a chance with the ships he has available

Everast had 105 Shivas.

Your argument is invalid.

I can't vote. I love Cole to death and Rtas' has my respect.

Newton is the deadliest S.O.B. in space, not necessarily the most B.A.

Fleet on Fleet battle would be very close, as both are genius's in terms of Naval Warfare. The UNSC Fleet would be at a Tech disadvantage, but would outnumber the Covenant at least 5:1 for a fair leveling. The Covenant would have the Superior defensive capabilities, while the UNSC would have the sheer amount of Firepower of its fleet.

Now, Shadow of Intent vs. Everst would clearly favor Cole, as the Everest outguns and can outmaneuver The Intent. The 105 Shiva warheads would likely be enough to take out a few Covenant Super Carriers a dozen times over.

  • 01.03.2011 6:22 PM PDT

Chigabang!

I think Rtas' would when the fight. Cole was a genius but Rtas' would have a fleet of superior ships and the Elites were brilliant Soldiers and ship masters. But the win would probably be a close one. Cole was a B34st.

Ehhhhh, you see, about that...

Oh look, there is a cool thread over there.

When your out of options, your trying the wrong options.

Just imagine, The Everest and The Trafalger, plus a couple of Cradles and Battle Group X-Ray(the one that cole took back harvest with) v.s. The Shadow of Intent and The Long Night of Solace, with the battle group that attacked during the 2nd battle of Earth, I wonder who would win?

  • 01.03.2011 8:02 PM PDT

Cole vs Rtas would depend on if Cole was allowed to used all those nukes. But if if was Keyes vs Rtas, then Captain Keyes would obviously win.

  • 01.03.2011 8:08 PM PDT

Who said Cole died? He could be sitting on a beach somewhere with that Innie woman.

  • 01.03.2011 8:50 PM PDT

What a waste....

Rtas.

A 1v1? The lasers would slice right through the Everest.

  • 01.03.2011 9:03 PM PDT

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

On even scale of technology or quantity of warships?

If it's based on quantity of Warships, Rtas. Remember Cole needed twice as ships or even more, to defeat the Covenant at the battle of Harvest due to the technological diferences.

If they were even on scale of technology, I would go for Cole.

Obviously a covenant ship with higher tech, even with a decent human captain. Just ain't even close.

Can't we all just get along?

Environment is also an important factor.

If both were in the middle of nowhere (no stars or planets for 1000 light years) and running to a more suitable location was not allowed, I think Rtas would win. However, if the environment is full of stars and planets, I believe Cole, being the more innovative of the two in my opinion, could use these entities to his advantage and gain the upper hand.
