One thing I found funny was the true origin of the flood.

Ancient Humanities' version of adorable poodles.

Whatever the true purpose of those glass bottles on those automated ships were made for it was an ingenious bioweapon.

Quick question, has anybody got any idea as to the UK release date? Hoping it's soon, or the same, but it never is :/

So ancient Humanity created the Flood? So what about the idea of it being extragalactic and falling from the sky on G617 and being first discovered there?

I sort of liked the idea of it being ominous and from beyond this Galaxy; the idea of it moving from Galaxy to Galaxy consuming. Oh well.

But wait...Doesn't one of the IRIS servers mention that the Flood had done this before?

Since it seems that the account didn't transfer, that's my new account everyone.

I doubt that The Precursor is initially flood; Rather My guess is he gets infected.

I thought graveminds were formed when the flood reaches a certain biomass? Doesn't make sense for a 'grave mind' to already exist.

There are strange extragalactic automated ships containing glass bottles full of a powder like substance that popped up in human controlled space. That is presumably the vector of the initial flood incursion.

Long story short we used it on our 'dogs' as a grooming product... not our finest hour.

That's my thought. Perhaps as the captive gets incorporated into the flood his mind gets imprinted onto it. But for it to use any of it or him it needs sufficient brainpower.

So... Some big things were shown, Can't wait for the next one.

Forerunners destroyed Precursors, Humans beat the Flood.

Very unexpected.

Jumping the gun a bit, what with the captive not really being a Precursor.

I finished the book yesterday, I'm more interested in how the humans and San'Shyuum defeated the Flood before.

The cure they found.

People willing infected themselves with the counter flood pathogen and used themselves as a vector to infect the flood.

how the -blam!- did the forerunners beat the precursors? their tier 0 compared to the forerunners tier 1.

Imagine you had a gun, and were fighting Dinosaurs (because why the hell not?) Sure, you'd kill a bunch of them with your gun, but eventually you'd run out of ammo and their numbers would overwhelm you.

That amazing analogy can be applied to the situation, if true.
Reminds me of playing Turok.

Yes but it was kept secret, I want to know what the secret is. Did they just have to eat spinach and then get eaten by the Flood for it all to stop? What happens when the Flood is cured? Does the person come back? Do they just die?

Well there is plenty of room for new theories.

So much new information...

I'm not going to waste my money on things like this just in the name of theorizing and, in doing so, work to preserve a money-grubbing canon-smashing institution. My theorizing days are done, now.

C'est la vie.

That's a little melodramatic, Snakie. I have a 337 page fan fiction completed which has many elements rendered impossible by this, but I'm not getting upset.

Can't you just see the book for what it is; a fantastic chapter in the Halo universe by an amazing science fiction author?

Or are you really so petty that you'd deny yourself a good read you'd enjoy purely due to not liking the company who sanctioned the book?

I take it this means you won't be buying any future Bungie games as they are published by the money-grabbing, souless Activision? Or that you won't be playing The Old Republic or Mass Effect 3 due to EA once being a sequel factory who ruined many good studios?

You probably should just scrap your PC since it was created by Microsoft, and we all know that they don't give a damn about much else other than money.

Actually the book was very well written and paid great heed to the canon. I did notice a couple inconsistencies but when have we had a new Halo Book or game that didn't?

I think Lord Snakie's just miffed about what was revealed as it did not line up with his own theories.

Regardless of whether it lines up with anyones theories I think what is in Cryptum is far more interesting storywise than what any of us have been able to generate.

Ah, yes, but videogame development is the career I am currently working towards. A tad melodramatic, perhaps, but can you blame me? For four years I've been one of the best-known theorists on the site--forgive my honesty in my old age, even if it is part arrogance--and now, my principals are preventing me from buying any new content so I can stay that way.

I don't like doing what I'm doing, but it's the right thing to do. Naturally that makes me pissed.

Can't you just see the book for what it is; a fantastic chapter in the Halo universe by an amazing science fiction author?
The book, perhaps. The author... I'd be forced to think about him being contracted to do all this and have no real interest in the lore. The company behind it? If I bought this book, I would merely be supplying them with the capacity to produce content that will disappoint me in the future.

Or are you really so petty that you'd deny yourself a good read you'd enjoy purely due to not liking the company who sanctioned the book?
I would sacrifice a transitory enjoyment in the name of not continuing to be attached to the series as they try to milk it. It's not something I do lightly or easily, but based upon my principals for game and story development.

I take it this means you won't be buying any future Bungie games as they are published by the money-grabbing, souless Activision? Or that you won't be playing The Old Republic or Mass Effect 3 due to EA once being a sequel factory who ruined many good studios?
That is different. I've spoken with myriad people who discredit 343--old employees, Bungie employees themselves, some of the people who have worked with them. They all state that the company exists to turn a profit and nothing else. Bungie has control over their future IPs (although I hasten to add that I am still disappointed in their content of late), as does BioWare. Just because EA is pulling the strings doesn't mean they can corrupt their titles. The thing is, 343i is Microsoft. They're not just pulling the strings any longer, they have the thing in their very hands. That is why I swear off 343i--that and the testimonies I've heard from those who worked there and those at Bungie that discredit them.

You probably should just scrap your PC since it was created by Microsoft, and we all know that they don't give a damn about much else other than money.
Low-blow, and wholly unnecessary. I do this because I care more about the story than the money, and 343i doesn't--it doesn't apply to any other Microsoft products.

Miffed, yes. But Cryptum isn't the point at which I swore off of new canon, it's just the point in which all of my old theories are now actually dead and I am passing on my title. This isn't my first rant, and this isn't when I decided I was done. This is merely the true end of it.

"You get what you put into it."

When Legendary is too mainstream, you have Heroic. When you're the leader of the church of MLGeezus, have Epic in your username, and can't write 'About Me's' to save your life, what do you get?

This guy. And now, an side note: Most things I post contain lethal doses of sarcasm, so be warned, and try not to take me seriously.

Finally, a message to Bungie trolls everywhere.

This is clearly a lie... ITS A TRAP!!!

Well, now what?

It seems as we now know the beginning of our time in the Halo Universe, the Forerunners, The Precursors, hell, we even had a Empire of our own.

Now that we know the truth, and a lot of things we knew where lies, (Kinda like the Covenant finding about the Rings), what do we do?

We're basically like the Elites at the end of the War. In a state of Confusion. It seems like the Halo Universe is coming to a close... I will be very, very, VERY ANGRY IF THE NEXT BUNGIE SERIES DOESN'T HAVE THIS AMOUNT OF DEPTH OF STORY !!!!! >:O
