Every single chapter introduces something mind blowing

Just wow

I just finished

I must reiterate my statement that everything we knew about the Halo Universe is wrong.

It ends with a real kicker.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I just need to state how much I love this book. I'm only 110 pages in and the amount of knowledge thrown at you is, simply put, fantastic. I'm glad to see that some of the earlier predictions of the theorists on here (and some of my own as well) have been fulfilled.

OMG a Pwny!

I don't think the ending is quite as surprising as we think, I think the prisoner is something different.

Well we have only his words to go off of. So for the moment we are going to have to assume he is what he says he is.

OMG a Pwny!

Why would Precursors imprison their own kind in such a way?

Who knows.

I can think of a whole range of different scenarios.

But as there is no information on that issue. It would all be idle speculation with no factual backing.

See you on the battlefield.

I'd expect nothing less from Greg Bear. He is simply an amazing author.

What time-frame does this book exist in, incidentally? It's the first in a trilogy and the codename was 'Antediluvian' (lit. 'before the flood,' and so I'm guessing that it doesn't detail Halo being fired?

It actually takes place fairly far into the Forerunner Flood war timeline. Near the end actually.

I believe somewhere it was said it had been going on for nearly 300 years (Which is about how long the war lasted we were lead to believe)

But most of the Forerunners were kept unaware of this conflict.

Can you give me a summary? i really wanna read this book.

Truthfully I'm never good at summaries because I always end up trying to tell you every detail that I think is important. Which is alot in this case.

Would you recommended this book, if you only read one halo book in the series?

If you could only read one? Yes. While The Fall of Reach and Ghosts of Onyx are both excellent, excellent books, I think Cryptum is the best one so far.
