Since I'm unaware of any 343i public forum, I will post this Idea on B.net. (Please Notify me if a 343i public forum does exist). So many of us know that Ensemble was developing a Halo based MMORPG 'WoW Killer'. I've been brainstorming a Halo based MMO for several months and I have decided to post the idea here for others to discuss and critique.

The Difficulties for The UNSC
Easy: Your character deals 75% damage and levels 25% faster. Character Model would be a Militia.
Normal: Your Character deals 100% damage and levels at the baseline rate. Character Model would be a standard Marine.
Heroic: Your Character deals 125% damage and levels 25% slower. Character Model would be an ODST.
Legendary: Your Character deals 150% damage and levels 50% slower. Character Model would be a Spartan.

The Difficulties for The Covenant
Easy: Your character deals 75% damage and levels 25% faster. Character Model would be a Grunt.
Normal: Your Character deals 100% damage and levels at the baseline rate. Character Model would be a Jackal.
Heroic: Your Character deals 125% damage and levels 25% slower. Character Model would be an Elite Minor.
Legendary: Your Character deals 150% damage and levels 50% slower. Character Model would be a Zealot.

To play on Heroic difficulty you would have to have a level 50 Normal difficulty Character. To play on Legendary difficulty you would have to have a level 50 Heroic difficulty Character.

The Classes for the UNSC
Soldier: An all around character who is proficient with every weapon but specializes in nothing.
Medic: A character who carries medical kits and surgical equipment. Proficient with Medium to Long range weapons and specializes in using medical equipment.
Sniper: A character who is trained in using weapons designed for extremely long range combat. Proficient with long range weapons and specializes in sniper weapons.
Demolitions: A character who carries and is trained to use high explosives. Proficient with Medium to Close range weapons and Specializes in Explosives.

The Classes for the Covenant
Warrior: An all around character who is proficient with every weapon but specializes in nothing.
Healer: A character who carries healing technology. Proficient with Medium to Long range weapons and specializes in using restoration equipment.
Marksman: A character who is trained in using weapons designed for extremely long range combat. Proficient with long range weapons and specializes in Beam weapons.
Heavy Warrior: A character who carries and is designated to use Fuel Rod technology. Proficient with Medium to Close range weapons and Specializes in Explosives.

Playing the Game
The game would play in either 1st or 3rd person views with the ability to toggle between them. I don't personally believe that space combat should be included, but traveling between planets would have to be possible. Also, the player could possess a space craft that they can customize and roam about within. I would really like the game to have customization options for their character, armor, and ground vehicles similar to APB. Combat would rely on not only who is higher level and who has better gear (thought those will help greatly) but will also use skill. You actually have to aim your weapon rather than just clicking and having your character automatically start firing. Generic NPC enemies would just be heretics for the covenant and insurgency for the UNSC, though wild animals could be included as well.
More to come soon...

OMG a Pwny!

Would you be looking for Halo.Xbox.com? That's where the Halo forums are.

Not precisely since that is a Microsoft website. Microsoft is only the publisher, I would like to be able to have a forum/website similar to b.net where you are posting among the developers.

I'm trying to keep balance among this, I personally don't believe that a Grunt Hero vs. a Militia would be an even fight... If somebody or you believe differently please inform me.

- Dragon Ball/Z/GT and it's merchandise are awesome.
- All "abriged" parodies are hilarious.
- Humanity, as a whole, is stupid.
- I have asperger's syndrome
- This is the best used 20 seconds of your life
- Official helper to the Halo: Reach - The Armor You'll Be Wearing This Fall! Thread

I think the classes should be each a different species for the covies.

Perhaps change Normal to a jackal?

Nothing can be a WoW killer. I don't care if Blizzard themselves created a Halo MMORPG. There will probably never be a game that can beat WoW in sheer numbers. Besides all of that, is this suppose to be strictly online? If so there would be no such thing as a difficulty level or are you thinking upon a single player campaign with an online option?

Since this is an MMO you should definitely get rid of the difficulty levels. Also people who play MMO's usually like to pick their own characters.

Hmm looks like the OP only has a basic understanding of what a true MMORPG is... no offence.

Halo.xbox.com is 343i's website and 343 administrates and interacts in the forums.

EDIT: Plus your idea sucks. It's not even an MMORPG

A true mmorpg needs-
1/Monthly subs to guarantee updates and..
1A/Game currency RMT controlled by server to kerb ebay(etc) and Far East gangs profitting with websites like MMOXBOX- my apoligies if Im not supposed to post names of illegal trade websites.
2/good servers.
3/Player as well as NPC shop systems.
4/detailed / varied character creation system.
5/detailed character upgrading - not just *level-up+1* let players decide HOW their character levels up.
6/Massive variation of weapons in looks AND abilities.
7/Weapon upgrade system (i.e. extended ammo / powercell +accuracy etc.)
8/ Big, long and hard... erm... missions (forgot what I was talking about there!) as well as standard variety for days where time could be short.
9/Luck should be NO part of reward system... i.e. mission end rewards... Do the mission get the reward... NOT grinding away for months without finding what you need then some noob gets one first run. Its not fair and its certainly a way to get people cancelling their subs.
10/Good communication between Player/publisher/developer to iron out kinks/ glitches. (SEGA took 2 years to fix a slowdown bug on PSU.)
11/BETA TEST IT FIRST- see above comment.
12/Community lobbies.. sit and chat, check out other players equipment that sort of thing.
13/Global Multi platform server... none of this regional nonsense.
Im sure others can add to this list.

Please understand, The difficult settings are only in place to allow more dedicated players to create a new character that can do more damage and take more damage, but the downside to that option is the slower leveling. I was basing the idea off of Shaiya. I will update the difficulties accordingly to provide more balance as I see fit.
