How does The Spirit of Fire not get destroyed while sling shooting around the sphere's core? The cut scene shows them like, right next to it.

move your hand over a fire quickly and you most likely won't feel much heat... Now move your hand close to a scalding bed of coals and you'll feel a lot of heat, but put a thick fire proof glove on and that heat is like what it felt, NOTHING. Since it wasn't close to it long enough the heat didn't have a chance to burn the ship.

Sort of basically this.

Also, that was a micro-star inside a planet. It won't have the same exact effect as a true star, and is obviously much cooler than a normal star in order to exist there.
