MC was labeled [threat to halo array, signifigant to serious.] in the forrunner bestiary, does that mean they dissaproved of him blowing up thier rings?

They'd probably side with Guilty Spark. Y'know, the guy who is following programing they installed him with.

  • 01.05.2011 6:38 PM PDT

I'd be pretty pissed if some guy blew up my giant space hula hoop, which I built to stop a monstrous alien parasite from spreading throughout the galaxy.

The Forerunners must have expected something to happen to the Halo rings, though, since the Ark built a new one in less than a month...

  • 01.05.2011 8:15 PM PDT

Given the circumstances I'd say they would side with him. On alpha halo the flood were dangerously close to getting a slipspace capable starship. If that happened then it would be another flood war, which we would most likely lose. With alpha halo B it was to destroy all of the known flood in the galaxy basically that wasn't confined to an installation.

"It is done. By my hands. The pyrrhic solution is ignited. All I have left is the quiet of space to lull me to sleep.
I will dream of you." - The Didact

Think about it though, the halos were an amazing weapon against the Flood. Destroying it wouldn't make sense to the Forerunners. Yes, with humanity's lower technology level we wouldn't be able to efficiently use the Halos (lack of Conservation Measure) but still I'm sure the Forerunners would think, "Hey, don't break my stuff!"

but they seem to know alll about our war up untill h3

  • 01.06.2011 4:21 AM PDT

Probably not, considering that the Flood was released. However, his actions would be pretty understandable.

  • 01.06.2011 9:10 AM PDT

Probably not, he did it to save all sentient life, which is the responsibility of the mantle that was passed from the Forerunners to the Humans.

  • 01.06.2011 11:45 AM PDT

with regards to flood and slipspace, what happens if the flood infect a bunch of slipspace capable ships, jump into slipspace just before the installations are fired, since they are no longer in the real universe, would they be unaffected? basically foiling the forerunner grand strategy in an instant? an way of looking at the question is think of space as a body of water, real space is the surface, surface currents, etc. the stuff deep beneath is unaffected by storms, etc. on the surface, imagine the installations 'pulse' is a strong surface current of some sort, the ships in slipspace (deep underwater) wouldn't be affected by the events above...ok that might not have worked as well as i hoped..!

Got pork?

You obviously haven't met my younger brother then.

Ah, they were dead when it happened so no it doesn't really matter. Plus they left their junk to us right? So humans can do whatever they want with them I suppose and plus they were the Forunners (Gods pretty much) so they could probably replace it within a insignificant amount of time.

ehem

WE BLEW UP THE ARK TOO!

  • 01.06.2011 2:01 PM PDT

Message me if you want, I will try to get back as soon as possible.

See you on the forums and in the games.

As long as the Flood is destroyed I'm sure the Forerunners don't care. It's just the means to a desired end.

  • 01.06.2011 2:05 PM PDT

It really depends. They might as they built a series of ring worlds that killed all sentient life to stop the Flood, whereas Master Chief just destroyed one of those ring worlds to stop them.

However, they might not approve because if the Flood escaped from another ring while 04 was being rebuilt then they may not have fully been stopped.

No they wouldn't. The monitors were programed to defend their respective Halos against anyone even if it was another true Forerunner. It was a countermeasure designed to prevent any kind of Flood infiltration that severely backfired on the Forerunners. While the monitors are naturally opposed to the destruction of a Halo their "opinion" has nothing to do with the Forerunner's own. Even then Forerunner society is split between using Halos or not using them.

In any case given the Forerunner's pro-life Mantle belief it's pretty clear that destruction of a weapon that destroys life would be approved of by those still firmly believing it.

i say they would b furious!

think about it.

u give the ULTIMATE sacrifice (your life) to keep the flood contained and THEN someone comes and blows up ur flood-now-be-gone device. its like u did nothing.

Funny story, but it turns out the Forerunners were in the process of trying to decide on whether or not the Halos would be dismantled when Mendicant Bias (already fighting for the Gravemind) decided to use the Halos to exclusively annihilate the Forerunner capitol. So yeah...I doubt the (surviving) Forerunners at the time regarded the Halos just as "flood-now-be-gone" devices...

  • 01.06.2011 3:50 PM PDT

In an insane world a sane person must seem insane

I think they wouldn't care because they built it to destroy the flood. Master Cheif destroyed the halo but also the flood.

P.S. Even if they did care what would they do about it?

At the expense of the Ark. Whout that, no more Halo coul be made, and a portion that was covered by Installation 04 covered is now a potential flood haven.

In doing this, he has possibly damned future generations.

Didn't Cortana say that it just did a number on the Ark? They never told us if it can't make more halos. Also the planetoid in the center still looks like it has enough for another one as well.

  • 01.06.2011 5:07 PM PDT

Given the circumstances, I'm sure the Forerunners would have approved. They would have approved of any action meant to defend humanity (i.e, their spawn).
