""We meet again, young one. I am the last of those who gave you breath and shape and form, millions of years ago. I am the last of those your kind rose up and ruthlessly destroyed. And our answer is at hand."

By far my favorite Halo book I have read yet and one of the best books I have ever read.

So much goodness.

Admittedly I haven't read very far, but without spoiling anything, can you tell me if it stops boring the -blam!- out of me in the next few chapters?

Im loving the setting and backstory, but Bornstellar's story is so far boring as hell. The blurb on the inside cover page has sparked more excitement for his quest.

Have you gotten to where they begin exploring other worlds? That is where it really picks up.

Still on that island thingy on Earth.

I really haven't read very far at all. It took me hours to just sit down and read the boat sections.

(although, I was distracted by the Canucks game)

As MAcles said, it picks up when they start exploring other worlds. Lots of intriguing things occur; just chug on through, I had to struggle as well.

So it's effectively like Contact Harvest? Kinda hard to get into, but ultimately one of the better books?

As long as it isn't another Cole Protocol, I'll be satisfied with the purchase.

I was, it answers many questions but starts many more and i'm thrilled for the next two.

I got through the book in about four hours. Truthfully I found the beginning parts fairly interesting in addition to all the rest of the stuff that happens, but that may just be me.
