A while ago, some of the most helpful members made a nice Chapter called "Newb World". It's purpose? To help new people find their way and inform them about the ways of the community.

What I propose is a revival of this Chapter - if necessary, a re-founding.

If it works, there will be a great interactive area for new members to ask questions and such without having to feel bad about it, or having to deal with idiots. I shouldn't imagine that it'd need to be a large information archive, just a friendly little community for new people.

The obvious problem is that it may not succeed at all. Usually, the Septagon does fine as support for new users, as well as containing links to helpful FAQs and such. My concern is that it would end up like an extension of the Septagon; therefore failing.

It's a suggestion - if there are a group of people willing to give it a shot or anyone with potentially useful feedback, please say so.

ZOMG! Psyched said the N-word! Banzz!!!111 lol

Anyways. I dunno if this would be helpful. It would depend on how it was advertised. If you were told about this chapter upon joining bnet automatically, then yes, theoretically it could be useful. Otherwise, by the time people heard about it, they'd have already found their way around bnet.

Obviously there'd have to be some way of showing them the group, how to join it and what it is, otherwise they'd have to find it like any other group and your average newbie is unable to do that. As kilroy said, an automatic notice would work, but that would need achronos' personal approval. A sticky in the underground or the septagon would work better,

If we did get it up and running, I'd be more than willing to help out.

I'm not so sure a sticky would be better. When I was a n***, I didn't know what a sticky was, what forum I was in, or what the differences between the forums are.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

As you have pointed out Psyched, The Septagon does do a good job a helping answer questions, but Newb World would be an oppertunity for something more. To offer the new comers a positive experience of the 7th Column at an ealy stage so that hopefully the 7th Column shall rise once more.

I think Newb World still has some old information so we have that to start with.

If you hadn't got it by now, i'm more than willing to help.

Great idea, but one problem. When new people join the foums, they probably don't know about many of the forums, let alone all the groups and how to find them. Access would be a problem, unless you were prompted with the option once you opened a new account.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

I'd be willing to help, but like what has been stated before, people don't know their way around the site, and would need some sort of prompt to join the group as soon as an account was made. That way those who make new accounts (for various reasons) would be able to not go, and those who were new would have a link to go to.

I support the idea. However, would the Chapter have to be open, or invite only?

Open. Definitely.

I'll be happy to help. But, like I said, it needs some way to let brand new members know about it.

It seems to me that such a chapter, while it has the potential to be very helpful, would only be so if there was an easy way for new members to access it. Otherwise, by the time they do hear about, join it, and ask their various questions, they'd probably already know enough.

If there is such a way that can be devised and implemented, then I, as many others have stated here, would be happy to help out.
