If you cannot lead by example , intimidate.

1. Never will see his face , so Steve Downes will just voice it.
2.Dont you think it will be kinda weird to see like Vinn Diesel or Sam Wothington and not thinking of there other movies like, XXX , Avatar , NFS ?

Like I cant watch Black Hawk Down without seing Ewan Mcgregor and thinking Obi Wan Kenobi is gonna go crazy with a lightsaber.

If there is a Halo movie, it better be after the book Halo: The Fall of Reach. You would need an actor portraying the MC as a child, and then you would need a legitimate actor portraying the MC after the Spartans finish Dr. Halsey's program. You will see his face, and I don't think it would be "harming the game's legacy" if you saw it. If anyone read the books, they actually give the MC a dynamic personality, and not the static one that is given in the games.

This.

A thousand times this.

Though knowing video game based movies:

What you'll end up with is a Master Chief (some d-bag actor, or more likely a rap-star) with his helmet off saying crappy one-liners and building on the -blam!- tension with Cortana (retconned to be a real chick) throughout half the movie.

If there is a Halo movie, I'd rather not see Master Chief appear in it. Focus on a squad of ODSTs, or something else that can make for a good story that gets to the heart of the Haloverse without harming the game's Legacy.

Really, would we expect anything less, considering the game's mainstream status and the mainstream view of Halo players?
Look at Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Both are fun. However, both have rather sub par stories, and in Reach the characters are out of... well, character, for a SPARTAN. They're aimed at the "mainstream" audience of jerky wannabe 12 year olds and casual gamers. The way things are going with the Halo ip...

Well, you know.

I enjoyed Halo 3's story quite a bit, but I understand where your coming from in volumes.

Really, the only way I can see a Halo movie being good is if Spartans are not involved in any way, or if it's directed by Niel Blomkamp, Peter Jackson, or JJ Abrahms...which will prolly not happen if there is one.

It'll have -blam!- actors in poorly redesigned MJOLNIR armor (minus the helmets) spouting off dialog that's like Reach's x 10, only laced with pop-culture references with rap music blaring in the background. -blam!-.

I exaggerate, I know, but really, -blam!-.

Niel Blomkamp and Peter Jackson lost my approval when I learned that they were trying to make the Halo movie off of the first game. If that were to happen, the movie would be a disaster. The only possible way to do this is from the books: Start with Halo: The Fall of Reach, and then you have the base for an epic series of movies that would be this generation's Star Wars. It is also entirely possible for this movie to be a blockbuster hit, but ONLY if they make the movie from the books, the plot of the video games, though entertaining, pale in comparison to the novels. I swear I will drop kick a baby if the Halo movie is made after one of the video games.

Also, I wouldn't say that anything imdb posts is completely legitimate right now in regards to the Halo movie.

You know, Worthington has a good build and has similar hair color to John. He might actually be a great choice. Though he is shorter then MC.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Steve Downes. They don't need to put a face to Chief, just a voice, and he already has one.
