I've only been here for almost a year, and I want to be enlightened. How did bungie.net start? What was it like in the beginning?

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

That's the history of Bungie, not bungie.net.

That's the history of Bungie, not bungie.net. Do you have to be so technical?

If he's actually trying to help the guy...yes.

I don't really know the history. Just of what's happened since I've been here. And you've been here a lot longer than me.

I think they should make a page telling the story of B.net. That would be cool.

In the beginning there was a number - and the number was 7. Thusly the word followed. The word was "blam!".

^He speaks the Tru7h. Oh, and this is like the third (?) version of the site. It's called the New Hawtness.

Ok here's the history. There's B.T.(Before Twitch) and A.T. (After Twitch)

Actually, it's BNH (before new hotness) and ANH (after new hotness).

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

That's actually not true, there was a B.Net which was Myth-oriented between those two. Well I've got time, so I guess I'll write something for you:

First there was that first website that ODST linked to. Then Bungie released Myth: The Fallen Lords, and later Myth 2: Soulblighter. B.Net then was a server for playing games of Myth on, and it had a leader board and Myth News, patches, etc. Then Bungie killed the Myth server (although this was after the old new site had come up, the old new site was up Nov 15, 2001), and fully devoted its attentions to the old new site. They then added forums, and then came the New Hotness, since the original, inefficient website would have exploded with the amount of traffic that it would get because of Halo 2.
This is an (obviously) short version, since I make no mention of the Disembodied Soul, The Webmaster or Ling Ling's Head.

Bungie.Net started as the sister site to Bungie.com. Originally it housed the ladders for Myth, while Bungie.com was maintained as the general information site for Bungie and their games (it also contained the letters to the webmaster, the soapbox, and the like). Bungie.Net eventually became the Bungie support site with faqs for real problems and the Disembodied Soul for everything else.

When Microsoft aquired Bungie, Bungie.Net and Bungie.com merged together into a new Bungie.net with features from both websites.

In April of last year, the website was updated to The New Hotness, which is what you see when you come here now.

And now you know the rest of the story. Good day.

Write to the webmaster. Ask him to do it.

And i'm one of the lovely kidders of the New Hawtness, joined the day after in fact.
