It seems as though both the Covenant and UNSC have some SERIOUS problems when it comes to security and loyalty. How do we know that there aren't underground human organizations feeding the Covenant information (like the location of Earth), or vice versa? In a government like the Covenant's, you're bound to have some type of resistance.

Probably because the Covenant are known not to take hostages or allow any human beings to remain alive if it is in their power to destroy human life.

What about in "The Flood" when an elite allowed a Pelican pilot to live so he could teach him to fly it to the butte? Mind you he did kill the pilot after but still.

Exactly, they would get the information and then kill the person. It was only for one specific event. How many times have you heard of the Covenant cooperating with humans or vice versa? Generally, never. The Covenant's purpose is to destroy humanity and the colonies, not interrogate and extract information from the humans. Although it is arguable, many people believe it is against their religion.

It said in the books that on rare occasions that Covenant capture humans for public executions. That's probably what they were gonna to with the captain.

Um, are you talking about the same Covenant that I'm thinking of, cause I'm thinking of the Covenant bad guys from Halo, the VIDEO GAME. The only analyzing you need to do about the Covenant is to analyze the best place to shoot them when you are playing your favorite video game Halo. Oh and its in the head.

The destruction of the Human race is one event too.

There is more to the Halo world than just the videogame.... more than just the killing with guns. Read the books mate... the story's better than the action.

I know...maybe I was just being selfish, because I come here for the gaming and threads like this annoy me. But youre right, if I was a tad more interested and a tad more keen on reading instead of playing video games, I too would be interested in Covenant politics. So sorry for the flaming - I'd just rather think about blasting dual SMGs in Halo 2 and other mechanics of the game than theoritical questions like this.

Yeah, a re-occuring event. The Covenant have glassed human planets numerous times, they care nothing of taking soldiers POWs as they care nothing of taking civilians hostage. I can understand why you would think the Covenant would want to take humans captive to interrogate them, and have an inside man in the UNSC operations, maybe even ONI. But it is not their way. Its possible, but unlikely. They primary objective is destroy humanity, in fact, their only objective is to destroy humanity. As I said its possible that the Covenant would have an inside man in the UNSC, but they have been known to have no cooperation with the Humans as Keyes states in the Flood.

But who knows? The Prophets seem to know about thinhgs the others don't. In addition, it says in "The Flood" that there have been assassination attempts on the Prophets, which leads me to believe there are factions against their religion. There are so many unknown variables.

P.S. You don't shoot Hunters in the head
