Subject: Why are there dead Spartans on the level "Lone Wolf"?

Surrender? I've never heard of such. Defeat? Not a possibility! Why...why I will fight and fight and fight, until I am victorious, or I am dead? Because that is who I am, and that is why I fight; everyone will see that, when I am proclaimed greatest among men.

The Flood AdviceCenter- Where you can talk about stuff people usually want to, but can't, in The Flood.

In the cutscene at the the end of New Alexandria, Carter mentions about Spartans having been assigned to evac duty. Lone Wolf takes place at that evac site, where those Spartans died.

Well, I personally think that they are a reference to all the spartans who died on Reach, and that the lone wolf level is just to show that Noble 6 died. It is, but those spartans are all red, so they may as just be Red Team. They are all color coded, right? Or are all spartan IIs green...

Anti-Teabag self-destruct mechanisms ftw

Why is it so important who they are? They probably have nothing to do with anything other than to add in a creepy feeling that this is the place YOU DIE. You WILL die and there IS NOTHING that you can do about it. The books would make a great point to say that they are not part of any canon. Red team was split up all over the place and most were glassed or blown away nukes. Unless they got ONI'd, which is always possible since they could make anything disappear, and are spartan 3's, they are just for effect.

The Spartan II's wore that bulky armor where III's wore SPI armor up til Noble team.
The Spartan IIs don't wear bulky armour.
Look at the Chief. That's standard armour from October 2552 onwards.

Doesn't look bulky at all, nor the Mk.V in Halo: CE.

If you're talking about Jorge, he wears field modifications on his armour.

They're probably from Gauntlet and/or Echo teams, which Kat mentions after New Alexandria. Both were assigned to civilian evac defense, so it's make sense that it's them considering their location.

  • 01.10.2011 11:10 PM PDT

Well the Spartan III's were trained in company's of 300 at a time, so its very possible it may have been Gamma members

No, because they'd be 13-14 years old in that case. There is no chance its Gamma.

The Spartan II's wore that bulky armor where III's wore SPI armor up til Noble team. Next time you play through Lone Wolf take a look at the armor and see if its bulky or not, if you can see the outline of a persons leg or butt then its a III. However another idea is it could be Kat, Emile and the other members of your team.

What?

What the -blam!- are you even talking about? First, Jorge is an S2 and has custom MJOLNIR. Same as the S3's of Noble. Any S3 that fit the genetic parameters of the S2 program were extracted early by Kurt and Mendez, given actual MJOLNIR, and used as real Spartans.....like most of Noble Team.

As for it being your dead teammates....thats beyond imbecilic.

  • 01.10.2011 11:37 PM PDT

OT: It's likely Gauntlet and Echo. There are 11 dead Spartan, if I recall, and that's effectively 2 teams worth. Conversely, it -could- be Red Team outfitted with salvaged MJOLNIR suits from Reach's prototype testbed. Reach is where the custom AA's spawned from.

That's less likely, though. It's either Gauntlet/Echo, or even more S2's and/or S3's that fell defending -something- very important.

They're either S-IIIs from gamma team or S-IIs retreating to the Autumn.

If you never noticed, there are several bodies of dead Spartans on the last level of Reach.

I feel like people on this section would know who those Spartans are...

The day the Halo fanbase realize that Bungie hated the books Nylund and Microsoft wrote, and went against them because it suited them to do it, the sooner they'll realize that the books are not official Bungie-Halo canon and that the games make complete sense if you ignore all of the books/shorts not written by Bungie employees.

I say this purely because you've gotta consider the politics behind all of this.

Bullshot. The books shaped the entire future of halo after CE. The books (nylund specifically) probably had more influence on the story then any single other thing. The description of mac cannons, hell they were probably even created by nylund. Every little detai about dr halsey, which they decided to make a major character in a game. All the quotes from the first half of halo 3 where cortana is reciting exact quotes from the book. Master cheifs re-entry to earth in halo 3. The very concept of armor locking was probably created by nylund. Spartan 3s.

I think it is the complete opposite of what you think.

I also think halo 2 and 3 would've turned out better if nylund was allowed to write their plots.

Be nice to noobs..Remember even MLG players were noobs at one point.

Has anyone even put into consideration that the mission point is called Rally Point Omega where-as the other mission checkpoints are all alphas and bravos? Omega means final or end, hence "I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the end." So my theory is based upon this name. Shortly after saving the Pillar of Autumn from that Covenant Cruiser Noble 6 receives a radio transmission with coordinates for surviving military units to regroup at. Now I know you ask well why aren't there more troopers and vehicles there? Truth be told (even though game cannon>book cannon) there should be, I honestly don't have a explanation why there are only mostly Spartans here. I personally agree that it may be the two teams that Kat refers to in New Alexandria.

The real question shouldn't be "Why are there dead Spartans on the level "Lone Wolf"? But should be "Why wasn't a more easily defendable position chosen, and why is this position in the middle of nowhere apparently, and if it is an ONI base entrance (obviously hidden) why the hell wasn't any assistance granted.

Lack of choice I'd imagine. If the Covenant are already established in all the nearby defendable areas, or are cutting the Spartans off from them, there's not much they can do.

On another note, I guess it makes sense that N6 would seek out the surviving Spartan teams in the area to fight alongside.
I guess he just got there too late.

no...Those spartans that are on the level Lone Wolf are Spartan-IIIs...Red team was comprised of Spartan-IIs

What proof do you have that those were spartan IIIs?

Well, according to First Strike/Fall of Reach all the II's were issued the same kind of armor. All the default Mark V that the Chief wore.

I've got the diary and a sketch of a Spartan 2 (Master Cheif?)during August 2552 is wearing MK. V armor that looks same to Halo Reach's base one (except that the helmet that the Spartan 2 had was the classic helmet.

So yeah the Mk V's Base has been entirely retconned basically.
