I got a couple of regrettable tattoos but, you can't see 'em when I wear a black suit.

Imagine this scenario. it's 2013, the newest Bungie game is coming up soon. Reach is already 3 years old now. While Halo 3 will be 6 years old. Sound familiar? One day, the newest piece of news has a title of 'Play Halo 3 while you can before (insert date here)!'. The body of the news article is basically a longer version of this gist 'Microsoft will be cutting off support for all Xbox Live games released in 2006/2007 on (insert date here), so play Halo 3 while you can!'.
Do you think this will ever happen?
Will Halo 3 ever end up being cut off like Halo 2 did?
If the game that revolutionized online multiplayer gaming can be cut off in online multiplayer support, what does that make Halo 3?
Only time will tell...

Well shucks, then I wouldn't enjoy playing any halo games online.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

As long as the 360 is used, and/or the current LIVE service, we'll be alright.

This. The only reason Halo 2 is gone is because the online infrastructure for ALL original Xbox games is being phased out for future upgrades that aren't backwards compatible with old games.

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

I already made a thread about this same sceanrioa on the Halo 3 forum. Type my name into google and it will come up with my thread "Will halo 3 go the way of halo 2?"

I wouldn't be suprised if this happened. Through the eyes of the big biz, the only thing people are good for is for carring their money. They want us to get the latest games and tech, so to make us do this, they'll make it the only option (to upgrade). Personally, I like the halo games for the story, not online play. Games like CoD would kinda stink.

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

Only if Microsoft makes a new xbox live. Halo 3 is on the same hardware and network that Halo Reach is, the only reason its xbox live service would be shut off is if it was being replaced.

There is additional hardware that runs Halo 3's particular matchmaking, but that would have to be dead for quite a while before they thought about shutting it down.

This would be a bad move based on what we know.

Reach only has about a third of the players that Halo 3 did on its "last" day (before Reach came out, comparing 300,000 to about 150,000, so maybe a half).

I seriously think Reach is dying out already. When you get beat by an older game in population count by two-and-a-half years?

I mean... really?

I doubt this will ever happen as long as the newest Xbox is the 360. It only really happens when new consoles come out.

Not until the new X-Box System becomes around 3-5 years old.
