Subject: Master Chief Has Been Cast in The Halo Movie (2012)

XBL - OMFG LOLQUE

This may be a little old now, but i only stubled on it today... and im a little confused as to why this actor was chosen:

Film - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464037/

Actor - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3595099/

(there are 2 lil Mirkks on IMDB, but they are both the same person) so anyway, what are your thoughts on this, i think if his face isnt shown and Steve Downes does the voice acting it may work. But really?? This guy doesnt look like a Spartan at all!!!

Also the person playing Lord Hood is a Bollywood Voice actor. I hope this is some kind of joke but 'lil Mirkk' had his twitter as he got cast to be master chief, and also stated it in a youtube video i watched.

Just as long as we don't see his face... It'll ruin ALL of the Halos for me... includings Wars, especially CE.

Perhaps he'll be in a silent role? I'll really only accept a certain man's voice to be the Chief in my Halo movie.

If all goes well, Chief'll only have extended cameos anyhow. I'd hate for this to be an exact retelling. But judging by this information...

Same, i hope he isnt the main star of the film, more a supporting role, an adaption has been written by the guy that wrote pirates of the caribbean and the film collateral. And i agree about him being silent too.

A side story would be a much better idea than a re-telling. And for some reason, they put up a summary of Halo 1, but the cast includes a role for Lord Hood.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have like a 7ft tall guy to take the job? You know, considering Chief is by no means 6ft tall.

They have computers for that. I doubt Frodo, Sam, and those two other guys were all four feet all.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Maybe he's just the voice actor?

Steve Downes or GTHO of the universe forum! <--- Typical fan response to that development.

Steve Downes or GTHO of the universe forum! <--- Correct fan response to that development.
Fix'd.

Steve Downes is the only acceptable voice for The Master Chief. He is, and always will have, the perfect voice for the job.

OT: Is this site user-edited? Because it looks to me like anyone can write and post reviews and summaries. It could be (and hopefully is) a prank or joke.

Oh, I am not one to disagree. Whoever voiced him in Legends was a fair substitute. But he was still, above all else, a substitute. A replacement for the real deal.

I looked at this yesterday. I can't express my disappointment.
I KNOW they can do better then that. I want to ask them a simple "why?"

And I have your answer: profitability. I have and will continue to maintain that 343i, as a subsidiary of Microsoft (whom I assume are the people behind this), exists for the purpose of making Microsoft money only, and has only cursory interest in the lore. They will do whatever they can to get that money, to the extent of alienating a few viewers so they can hire a little-known actor with only a bit of experience so as to pay him less for the role.

Boycott it if it happens, my friends. That's my advice.

  • 01.10.2011 6:43 PM PDT

You do realise anyone can edit IMBD right?

Its a hoax. Nothing about the movie has even gotten off the ground.

  • 01.10.2011 6:46 PM PDT

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

He'll be faceless so I don't care.

I mean, do you remember who played Darth Vader?

  • 01.10.2011 6:52 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

They just ruined the movie for me. There is no reason they could not have had Steve Downes play him, and no reason not to have Ron Perlman be Lord Hood. Instead they're just getting crappy actors for what will be a crappy film. So much excitement turned to so much disappointment.

In fact, I refuse to believe this. No casting executives are that stupid.

(I still think this is a prank)

Yeah, um... he won't be faceless. I'm guessing that if he was cast as MC, they'd have him helmetless and talking throughout half the film just 'cause they could. And because Mirk would prolly complain. Think about it: If they were going to voice-over him anyway, why not just use a big stunt-man?

If this is true, the film is dead to me already.

  • 01.10.2011 7:42 PM PDT

I don't care. I really don't.

Yeah, Microsoft may be money-hounds, but they aren't stupid. They know that if they do a pricy, good movie they will get more money in the long run from people watching it over and over again to make up for it, instead of a cheap half-ass job which is a box-office smash on its first day but drops off the charts in a week.
They would also not ruin their main game franchise. Microsoft can be cheap with computers because theirs are pretty much everywhere, and can afford so. If they screw up a film of their biggest game franchise, then they will crash and burn; Halo is trying to compete with hundreds of other games and franchises instead of Microsoft's computers with are computing with only Apple, and their console is going head-to-head with only two consoles: the Wii and the PS3.
Because Microsoft can make poorer computers/consoles then everyone else makes us think that everything they makes sucks, but they will only do it if they get as much money as they can with the lowest production cost. By what IMDb is making it out to be, this movie will have its gross revenue beaten by Pixar movies, which Microsoft just can't let that happen in their money-mongering way.

It's seems false or Microsoft is actually giving up profit because of this (yeah, as if that will ever happen).
