It's Hazard Time

MS ain't stupid, there is a reason they're such a major company, they know what people want and how to make them pay for it.
Ruining the Halo movie with bad actors would hurt the franchise, and Sony/Nintendo might as well win teh console war, not likely.

Halo would be at least Resident Evil, if not Star Wars/Lord of the Rings material. Treated carefully and you make a blam! load of money.

I don't care. I really don't.

Although that's pretty much what I said, nice job simplifying it up for those that don't like read too much. :)

Wow, why are they using a bunch of no-name actors in the HALO movie. This guy was in some TV spots for Burger King and made some brief cameos (e.g. "Kid in car") in some TV shows/movies. I would expect they could at least get somebody, well, famous, for the role.

I certainly hope this doesn't end up like some crappy Bollywood budget Halo movie that destroys the canon or I will rage so much I would scare the Hulk.

I looked at this yesterday. I can't express my disappointment.
I KNOW they can do better then that. I want to ask them a simple "why?"

And I have your answer: profitability. I have and will continue to maintain that 343i, as a subsidiary of Microsoft (whom I assume are the people behind this), exists for the purpose of making Microsoft money only, and has only cursory interest in the lore. They will do whatever they can to get that money, to the extent of alienating a few viewers so they can hire a little-known actor with only a bit of experience so as to pay him less for the role.

Boycott it if it happens, my friends. That's my advice.
Isn't this basically what Bungie did with Halo 2, 3, ODST, and Reach? Halo 2 and 3 basically made it so new players can stand against seasoned players. Nothing wrong with that, but it did take away from Halo CE gameplay and thus, throughout all the changes, they still cater to a more average audience.

Again, I'm glad they did, but I still remember al lthe threads from Halo 2 and Halo 3 about how it's been "noobified" and catered toward casuals.

I swear to god, if they make the Halo movie off of one of the games, I will drop kick an infant. The ONLY way this movie would be acceptable is if they based the script off of the book Halo: The Fall of Reach. That is the only option. The games' plots are no where near as epic as the books. Plus, The Fall of Reach sets the base for a series of movies that could be this generation's Star Wars. Not only that, but you could actually cast the MC as the main character: He actually has a personality in the books, unlike in the games. The best actor, I think, would be that dude from Avatar and Terminator. I can't remember his name :(

Ron Perlman would be better as Lord Hood as he looks like him and was the voice actor.

In my opinion, any hope of a decent Halo film died with Neil Blomkamp leaving the project.
I don't want another Michael Bay-style film full of CGI and explosions, we have enough of them already, and if I want to learn the story of Master Chief I'll play the games.
Halo deserves something different, something unique. But I fear we are going to just end up another bad adaptation.

You do realise anyone can edit IMBD right?

Its a hoax. Nothing about the movie has even gotten off the ground.

After a couple years on keeping an eye on the Halo movie's development, this is the most accurate post in this thread.

It's not real. I don't care how many easily editable things like Twitter and IMDB say it, it's not real. Don't believe everything you hear on the Internet. This film will be greenlit MONTHS before they ever have any actors cast.

Wait, does that actor play the role of Master Chief? If so I'm not even watching the movie.

Also the person playing Lord Hood is a Bollywood Voice actor. I hope this is some kind of joke but 'lil Mirkk' had his twitter as he got cast to be master chief, and also stated it in a youtube video i watched.

I was just about to say this. Why don't they get Ron Perlman who is in fact actually an actor to play Terrance Hood? I mean he -does- do the voice for him, and the physical likeness is close enough that he could get away with it without anyone really minding. Plus he's Ron freaking Perlman, who has a great nerd fanbase and would ring true with many people.

Master Chief, I'm concerned why they chose the guy they did. It makes no sense to me. I hope the listing is a joke to be honest.

I wish it was but google it, and look on his twitter...

"I saw it on the internet, it must be true!"

Ridiculous reasoning aside, if whatever production company who has picked up the rights to the Halo film plans to spend any decent amount of money on it, I can guarantee you they will simply not select actors unknown to the average American audience. All of this "news" is actually not that; at best these are unsubstantiated rumors.

I actually think he has a pretty decent voice, at least for a younger MC. Listen to him talk in; he could definitely pull it off: derp. Later in the movie, when he puts his helmet on, Steve Downes could do the voice over, like Darth Vader.

Well what other sources do you have then? the man said it himself on his twitter and on a youtube video i watched, which i found through googleing it... That guy lil mirkk said he is definitely in the film now, unfortunately. And i didn't say it must be true if you read my 1st post.

Back to IMDB, yes anyone can edit it, but it has to be authirused by them, and it hasn't been changed back yet so... i dunno whats going on. That lil Mirkk guy seems like the kind of person that would edit it himself for fame though.

Yes, anyone with an IMDB account can edit it, but IMDB have to authorize the change and let it get updated. I don't necessarily believe everything on IMDB but he also said in a video on youtube before christmas that they were thinking of casting him, then 2 weeks ago on his twitter said he got the part.

Thing to remember is that Microsoft was holding the leash and whipping it hard on most of those titles, and by ODST and Reach (which Microsoft still had some large degree of influence over, if I hear right) they were obviously getting tired of Halo.

In my opinion, Halo 2 was a great game despite the rushing. It was an excellent story and, despite the gameplay faltering, I thought it was a good continuation. As for Halo 3 and onward, well, yes, they slipped, and I don't know whose fault that was. Bungie is on thin ice with me personally, but Microsoft's ice has already fissured and dumped their asses in the freezing lake.

What you're saying is that everyone but, you know, Microsoft/Bungie/Reliable source, have said they're in this movie so it must be true?

Listen, believe nothing about the Halo movie until Bungie or Microsoft announces pre-production or casting for it. It'll be a lot easier on your heart and sanity if you pretend everything is a lie until then.

He'll be faceless so I don't care.

I mean, do you remember who played Darth Vader?

depends on which part of Darth Vader are you referring to?
man behind the costume: David Prowse
the voice of Vader: James Earl Jones
The face, (when Luke pulls off his mask): Sebastian Shaw.

yes... I am a big enough dork to remember that.

Anyone can edit IMDb, but this is no wiki. Each edit must be accompanied by verifiable and certified sources and undergo scrutiny for a few weeks as the appropriate lines of contact are made and the claim verified. So unlike wiki, you cannot just write whatever you want. (Link to their guidelines.)

On submitting a title to IMDb.

Acceptable sources. (Though I must admit I have not seen mention of a Halo Movie on any of those media.)

Apparently the Halo Movie is listed as an example of the kind of movies that they will list who are still in their early production stages. Movies that are still in their early production stages are not usually listed due to cancellation/delays/cast changes. Only Big Hits who are more likely to have sequels and whose cast are already under obligation to that franchise are listed, and rarely.

Still, this proves nothing about the film itself, only that no one can edit IMDb in a fly. I wonder what sources IMDb used to check, because if a Halo Movie were announced on a Newspaper, TV network, Film Festival or by a Video Retailer then I am sure that this is not the first we would have heard about it possibly being legit. I would check their specific submission criteria but that requires an account to be made.
