And heres Chapter One.
CHAPTER ONE: AWAKENING
I squinted as I opened my eyes. I felt disoriented. I waited for my sight to adjust to the sudden light and felt a pain jolt through my leg and a faint buzzing sound was heard by my ears. I screamed out in pain and lifted my head up with desperation, and beat away at whatever was the cause of the pain.
"He's AWAKE, HE'S AWAKE, NURSE GIVE HIM ANOTHER DOSE!" A man's voice ordered, more shouting than calm. To my horror he was cutting away the bone on my leg with a barbaric saw.
It wasn't until after I heard a ringing in my ears that the pain subsided and my vision faded into complete blackness.
I woke up and let out a frightened man-like yell, as I sat up and wiped the sweat from my forehead, and tore the sheets of my cot off of my legs, and let out a sigh of relief as I saw my legs.
I had no words at the moment, and sweat was continuously trickling down my forehead and onto my brow.
Relief was overwhelming at the moment and I let my head fall back onto the pillow I was laying against.
I closed my eyes and I heard undecipherable murmurs, I could make out a few things.
"Should we tell-," From one voice
"When he comes to," Another voice said, it sounded like the same one who was cutting at my leg.
I blinked my eyes in disbelief and finally noticed how obnoxiously bright the lights were. I looked at my wrist and saw the emblem of the UNSC, faded and scarred.
I grunted affirmatively taking in my current situation.
"Doc," I half grunt and half said as I popped my knuckles.
I heard some scurrying outside and a man in scrubs came rushing into the room, "How do you feel?" He asked, his face was serious and had a hint of worry on his face.
I grunted as I saw him trying to hide the worry on his face, probably didn't want to show weakness in front of an ONI operative with section III clearance, I could only respect him for trying, but I wouldn't hold anything against him for failing.
"Fine, what happened?" I asked and tried to move my legs, but felt a jolt of pain and winced.
The doc didn't say anything but his face became less serious, probably reassured that I was mortal, just like everyone else.
"What happened?" I asked again through gritted teeth, but I didn't look at him.
He took a unnecessary step back, probably afraid of death.
"You took a hit, terrorist explosive, shrapnel went into your eye, cut deep into both of your legs, your arms, and a piece of shrapnel on your forehead. I'm surprised you're still alive." He stated, actually serious, he knew I wouldn't fright. Training took care of that.
"How do I still have legs?" I demanded of him through, still gritted teeth.
"We had to amputate your legs, arms and replace your eye with cybernetic and mechanical components, a scientist named; Alenko Jarviss of German descent came here and replaced those for you." The doctor said simply, who I now knew was a Surgeon.
"Whose authority allowed this?" I demanded, annoyed with the fact that my body was ruined by a German who was most likely under ONI authority.
"A man, of African American Descent, looks like a tough guy, didn't get any information out of him, he said he'd be back by today," The Surgeon paused and looked at his watch, "2552 October 21st in exactly 5 seconds." The Surgeon finally finished his sentence.
I counted the five seconds and covered my nose as a smoke canister rolled into the door way, and i simply watched as the surgeon fell to the ground.
"Come on Spook, I aint got all day." A gruff, badass voice shouted through nerve-gas and grabbed me by the collar and pulled me out of the building, without giving me a chance to even move.
"Who the hell are you?" I demanded and half shouted.
"The toughest, and probably the most badass marine in the Marine Corps." The voice responded and I finally noticed the Sweet-William Cigar hanging out of the side of his mouth that he was chewing on furiously.
"Can you handle a gun and walk?" the Marine asked as he tossed me a Battle Rifle that I picked out of the air and chambered a round with relative ease.
"Yeah," Came my response and the Marine grinned a cheesy grin.
"Covenant bastards finally made their way to Earth, I came here to pick you up and insert you to help out a small detachment of marines they got pinned down by them covenant bastards, I need you out there to kick some ass." The Sergeant listed as we walked out of the Hospital, he had more authority than I did strangely enough.
