So, I was thinking the other day, would a decent chunk of the Halo Community agree that this would be something cool for 343 Industries to make after they finish off their current Halo Project which they are undoubtedly working on.

So, everyone who has played halo 2 or 3 knows who the ODST is, correct? Most of us have at least played at least a little bit of Halo 3: ODST (2009; Bungie LLC). While that was indeed a decent to good game, I feel as though the ODST has a lot of potential for a full project. I'm sure some other Halo fans have felt the same way.

Let me explain the upsides of something like this:

1) It would be full of nostalgia. Not to mention it would give the developer a ton of places they could place the trooper, or could even have them going all over the place through different troopers making a huge, elaborate storyline and showing off some of the other things in Halo fiction, or the vast array of the Halo Story.

2) There were Halo troops in some of the larger scale battles that I (I'm not sure about you) consider to be some of the best encounters and levels in the three games. Frankly, those would be The Covenant (Halo 3, 2007; Bungie LLC) and the levels where Master Chief John 117 dropped in with ODST troops onto Delta Halo (Halo 2, 2004; Bungie LLC). In short, there are all sorts of chances for nostalgia. Like, if it were on Delta Halo you could overhear some of the comms chatter from when Cortana and and John were hunting down regret. Something simple and subtle like that.

3) In Halo 3: ODST, there was only one drop, one battle. In a full scale game, there could be several drops. A drop on Delta Halo, a drop on The Ark, or even a battle on Onyx (Pardon me if I got the fiction incorrect, as I have not read "Ghosts of Onyx" yet and do not know the circumstances of the battle).

4) There could be weapons, classes, battles, and environments that we've "Felt" before and can play again in a new, HD state. Would be interesting to have the SMG back in the hands of and ODST, or a BR tearing through some grunts.
4) There are all new stories to be told here that people will surely love.

5) With a new developer, it'd be a fresh taste. Bungie made the game with a "Detective" feel. If we went back the the battle of the Halo installations, or anywhere else for that matter, it'd have a different feel to it, being an ODST.

5.1) It could be done differently. It could have some different aim systems, a new health system (Critical state, etc etc) while still maintaining the run 'n' gun feel that is essential to anything Halo to make it "Halo".

6) Multiplayer? It would be a chance to change up the multiplayer experience a little bit. Keep it basic, fast, skill-required, and you got you me.

7) If they ever actually got around to this, it would be on the next generation console (maybe). Point is, it would be a campaing based game (Hopefully) with a good, long experience. Multiplayer and Firefight could make a comeback, and hell, why not try and make forge if they have enough space!

To sum it up, do you think this would be a good game? Think it would be a good idea? (If executed correctly).

Honestly, I would pick it up. I'd preorder....

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

So you play as an ODST going through all the conflicts?

Would lack story if you hadn't already played halo.

Well, it wouldn't PRECISELY be going through all of the conflicts. The whole conflic of delta halo only lasted a few months, at the most. It could be you and your squad fighting through forces while John does his crazy, intergalactic space opera.

I have yet to play Halo 3: ODST but I will say this sounds like a decent idea.

The only conflicting thing for me is I would like to see a continuation of the Master Chief a bit more than replaying a lot of the old battles from a different viewpoint.

The idea of fighting in the Battle of Onyx is an interesting one. It could shed more light on the Forerunner the their history. I have yet to read the book but as I understand it, Onyx is a Forerunner made "planet" with a habitable surface much like on the Halos and is filled with Forerunner Sentinels.

Overall though, not a bad idea.

Yeah. Their current project, I believe at least, has been confirmed to be a continuation of Master Chief's story. I believe somewhere in the OP, it says after they're done with it.
