I'm not extremely active on this site, so you wouldn't know, but I write machinima quite regularly. Sometime last year, I began writing a machinima in a group which we have recently named 'Peralium'. This machinima is based in the Halo Universe, mainly during the fall of Reach. It's about the betrayal of some UNSC forces in order to cover up secrets that they've discovered and will be a series of episodes. I can't say much more now, as the story is based around the mystery a lot and therefore, any more info would spoil it.

For now, I have a poster to show you for it. I myself didn't make it, but someone working on the project with us did.

So, without further ado, here's the first poster for 'Peralium'.

So..no actual Film yet..k I dont know..i am a machinima director , not an Artist..the poster actually does not speak about cover ups or "secrecy" or mystery, it just sais to me " Yep..another halo based off already told story about glassing and spartans trying to prevent it, but are futile"......So..for now i would have to assume, according to the poster, it will be yet another spin on an already told story.

No, this is just a small teaser poster to get the name out there. In fact, it's not about glassing at all. It's not about saving Reach, it's about saving their names and being remembered as heroes, not traitors.

Also, if you're criticizing so much, I'd like to see some of your work. I'm well known on multiple machinima sites, and I've never heard of someone named 'Ghost Bn'. Got any other names that you use?

..Does it Matter? If i do, or i do not.. I critisized the Poster against your Plot explanation, the two dont match.. a Teaser, or a Trailer or even a poster needs to convey some theme of the actual Film...

I Dont think that Iron Man poster would be effective if it was a picture of Tony Stark with a Machine Gun with him... besides the name, how would you understand what the movie is about.. But nope The Posters were of either Iconic iron man Power cell, a helmet, or Iron man himself.....

I just dont see how this poster is relevant to your revealed plot.

Now to the second issue once more.. known or not, should not matter, but ive not heard of you either and i lurk on forums from time to time...Critique is universal, you dont need to be in the field to properly ctisize..and my critique is unique..i dont think ive pointed anything wrong with the poster...just that it does NOT match the plot so far..simple as that..if you like i can ask a few citics that have a different aproach. Anything else?

Alright, I'll be sure to talk with everyone else and we'll try to come up with a more related poster next time.

Related?.. You asked for an opinion, i gave it..just because its not 100% praise of your work does not make me "unrelated".. this is not even a machinima, but a Fan Art. If anything, your channel, does not net you a "well Known" status.

I tried being observatory and objective towards the provided plot and the Poster, if you cant take an obvious flaw in the connection between the two, you should stay out of the Machinima field all together.

Woah, woah, calm down. By 'related poster' I actually meant a more related poster to the machinima. I mean, our next poster will be more related to the machinima, not the next person to post on this topic.

Second of all, the fact that it's on two well known sites in machinima, and has received praise from those users, leads me to believe it IS machinima, especially considering I've been writing and planning the story with others for months now.

Also, what channel are you even talking about? We currently have no channel, as we have director status with Machinima.com, allowing us to upload to their official channel. We must be doing something right if we're being paid for this.

Finally, I happily accepted the flaws you mentioned, but you obviously couldn't read properly, and therefore, got angry.

So I'm sorry if you don't wan me to make this machinima. I'm sorry if you want me to stay out of the machinima field altogether which I believe I'm far more experienced in than you, but I'm not going to stop making this just because you don't like it.

Mmm... Shasta

Obviously the purpose of the thread was to have feedback on the image itself, not the connection between it and the hastily thrown together synopsis. The poster shows you all the artist wanted you to see. Please take your arrogant attitude elsewhere.

  • 01.14.2011 4:04 PM PDT

You misunderstood.. , as did i, All ive stated that.. you asked for critique, and well, posters should correlate to what the Movie or Machinima will be about , if you have not noticed i did not state anything negative (nor positive) about the quality since, well its obvious work was put into this...

But i disagree with your statement.. i do not think you are more, or less experienced. Ive recieved Praise from machinima Community as well,I dont know what you base your assumption of off. Getting a Contract with machinima does require some skill, but nothing more then the ability to do gameplay commentaries...which is..really nothing to be proud off.

There are few.. of well known machinima-Direcotrs and these can be listed on 2 hands, some dont even do machinima, but gameplays. And oif so..what other works youve done?...i judge by the latest..so if you be so kind as to link, id gladly take a look..unless ofcourse there is nothing to present.

I agree that my quote was not..nicest, but in no way it stated NOT to make machinima, it was to accept critque from your work, and for posters, critique does not only lie in the looks, but the message.

If the Purpose was for the Image alone..no story elemnts would be required...Meaning all it would state

"Hey there folks, here is the poster for my upcoming Machinima series"......Here ya go..

Alright, I understand what you mean now, that the fault was not in the poster itself, but the post I made in giving you the story.
I'm glad we both understand each other now. I put in the quick, brief synopsis just as some extra information. Officially, that information will be given later in our teaser trailer which is on its way.

Ah, well I've seen many a posters that only give you so much. say, the title, and a gun. You can look literally, and say that the movie will have to do with a gun, or you can imagine what the gun could imply. That was the purpose of this kind of poster. Why was it raining? Why is the glassing a reflection instead of say, behind the character? Why is there clear detail of the visor? Getting into the mindset of asking questions like this is what you should do. Take another look, you don't know what the machinima will be about, but the poster has certainly given clues.

I dont see theme of betrayal and conspiracy that were described...Posters must be obvious, not have hidden meaning in-accesable to a bungie.net member who wants just to know what will happen...Ease of access for audiance > any "hidden" meaning

  • 01.15.2011 6:10 PM PDT

Mmm... Shasta

The poster is meant for the first episode only. The main theme of Peralium is to see through another's eyes, hence the reflection and concentration of the visor and helmet.

  • 01.17.2011 11:29 AM PDT

You know this Since you are part of the production process..how are WE the viewers seposed to know that? That simple. I understand the defensive attitude, but justifying a clear..flaw....in the poster ( not talking about technical piece of work) is just..slightly desperate..just take and learn from it..simple.

It's true that this, in the beginning, was not meant to be made for the first episode, and rather a teaser for the full teaser. However, I disagree with you in saying that ease of access to the audience is more important the hidden messages. The first advertising for media will not always tell you what it's about.

Look at the Halo: Reach Teaser Trailer. It tells you nothing except it's about the Fall of Reach. We know no specifics such as who we're fighting as, or even if it's a first person shooter.

At the end, we hear 'I need you in that fight Noble One' and we hear someone who identifies them self as 'Sierra 259'.

When we first watched that, we had no clue what any of this meant. Would we play as Master Chief? Would we play as an elite as well? Would we play only on Reach? What would our objective be (protect mac generators, evac, etc)?

In fact, - a spoiler if you haven't played the game - not one of those trailers even mentioned Halsey or Cortana who became the main objective of the game in the end. The reason for this is to reveal it later on in the story. Don't show your audience everything at once. Show them one small bit (the glassing) then bring them in and show them everything else (betrayal).

  • 01.17.2011 2:41 PM PDT

Ah but we DID know what happens in reach..the trailer was made with though of already informed audiance. We knew that Reach would fall... thus the burning planet..The planet itself was not named if memory serves me right..but.. there were obvious things pointed towards that.. we knew that we will be fighting as a spartan..since the developer told us.. the only "misleading" factor was Spartan anme.. and even then..we knew it would be spartan 2.. and not spartan 3..thus we KNEW it would not be Chief.. the developers spoon fed information for the trailer... Much liek you did, except their trailer matched their description..yours, did not.. poster ofcourse.. waiting on the trailer.

I dont understand why you taking this so close to heart.. its a flaw.. and not even technical but more personal. Though ive taken some things close to heart wiht my series as well. But never justifying an obvious shortcoming.

But.. i see the direction you are going to.. so all in all its fine
