"A problem occured initializing Direct 3D. Hardware acceleration may be disabled, please run DXDIAG."

This is what my computer says when I try to play the Halo trial. It is a Dell Optiplex GX150 (I know it's not great, it's 850 MHz, 192 MB, 8M Intel 815 (0x1132). I've run DXDIAG, and all the tests work. When I click the 'more information' link the game shows, it brings me to Microsoft's download page for Directx 9.0 c. I've tried downloading it but I don't know where to save the setup. Anyone know how to proceed?

You should save it anywhere and run it or just run it from the web. However the problem may be that that video card just can't run Halo. If you do manage to get it to run you are not going to be impressed.

Lol well see these are actually my school's computers, and we are going through a part of the year in which we do absolutely nothing, and I sure wouldn't mind being able to play with people on a LAN. Some of these computers and some don't, I think it's because some don't even have the latest directx installed. But thanks I'll try it Monday : )
