@bungie: please no combos with snipers, launchers, AR, BR, shotguns and other big weapons.

Don't worry, Bungie knows it. It's just the fans that don't seem to realize yet.

I actually doubt there will be many combos, and if so i think there will be many downsides to stop it being over used, like a severe decrease in accuracy. Whats to say the Covenant won't use dual weapons either? anyone thought of this on legendary?

an elite with a plazmasword and a plasmarifle...that would be a good enemy.

Wrong, Plasma-rifle is two handed. Might be able to have dual plasmaswords though, but not very much more dangerous than an Elite with just one plasmasword (when you get to close you die, simple).

i mean in one hand a sword and in the other a rifle (or better a gun).

That way you would be carrying a two handed weapon (Plasma Rifle) with one hand, that's the whole issue here! The plasma rifle is two handed isn't it? I could have sworn I saw it while playing co-op.

yes it is! but even the plasmapistol is twohanded (MC only). so for me it would be possible to hold two plasmarifles. but i wouldn't like it.

The entire fleet is engaged Cortana, with respect what the hell sorta reinforcements have you got?

you could use a plasma rrifle with one hand really.
im pritty shure that elites do it all the time.
it is usually held with two hands just to give the other hand summin to do

Second hand is to balance it better, it's a two handed weapon.

Sorry, mate, but you're wrong. That's like saying you can't dual weild a pistol because in Halo 1 you hold it two-handed to stabilise it. Except for the needler, all of the weapons in Halo 1 are used by the Master Chief two-handed. But grunts manage to fire plasma pistols with one hand, and elites use only one hand for the plasma rifle, and even the UNSC crewmen use only one hand for the M6D pistol.

So there you have it. You can dual-weild the plasma rifle, or else it would suck, and Bungie doesn't do things that suck.

You're right, he wields the pistol with two hands as well etc.

However, a rifle is 'always' a two-handed weapon. If you can use two rifles, there's no excuse why you wouldn't be able to use all kind of whacky (and idiotic, unrealistic) combinations.

Trust me, you won't be able to use a plasma rifle in dual.

  • 04.14.2004 7:19 AM PDT

What the hell? We're not basing this information on the names of weapons! You can't ignore the fact that Elites use the plasma rifle one-handed.

If they can do it, so can John.

Of course we are, if it were a singlehanded weapon why would they call it a "rifle".
Plus, the plasma rifle is the counter for the BR/AR. You can't wield that dual, so wouldn't that be considered "unfair".

You're right about the fact Elites using just one hand.

Not really, you just run away backwards and take him down with either a plasma nade or any weapon really. I don't know why everybody wants plasma swords, the guys with the swords were easier than the regular elites. If they don't come close you're perfectly safe.

Btw, am I arguing too much? Heh..

But if the Plasma rifle is considered as equal to the AR, then it would be inferior to the BR, since the BR is superior to the AR. So that would have to be countered by the ability to dual weild plasma rifles. Also, dual weilding doesn't necessarily double the damage, since without the stabilising hand the accuracy would drop, so don't say that the BR isn't twice as good as the AR.

So, why wouldn't you be able to use two ARs or BRs at the same time, I bet a Elite could do it.

Seriously though, I've got nothing more left to say. I still think I'm right and will only change when I hear it from Bungie.

You can't dual wield a shotgun, unless the Master Chief grows an extra arm. Who knows.

drop the gun and catch it at the pump and there u go its pumped and ready to fire again

good point. ARs, Battle rifles and sniper rifles should not partake in any of the dual-wielding choices.
