This probably won't happen but I think it would be a pretty cool idea if there was a contest or something and the prize would be minor moderating powers for one day. Maybe if you are a good Bungie citizen the Mods could choose someone to join their ranks for one day.

If you do do this then I think it should be very minor powers to avoid anything bad happening. Also it would be pretty cool to be awarded your own custom avatar (for a day.)

You should choose someone each month that has either
A. Been a good Bungie citizen.
B. Contributed somehow to this site. (creating a helpful thread)

I'd appreciate it if you at least considered the idea. Anyone else think it's a cool idea?

Depends what type of powers you get. I'd probably have a lot of fun using my uber abilities in New Mombassa.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I'm with Miles on this one. No offence, but i really can't see this happening.

There's a better chance of you getting a custom avatar with a Karma system that there is with your idea. I'd suggest not holding your breath though.

I can see it: "I don't like this member, let me ban them."

P.S. That's bad.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

"Mod for a day." *Shudder* I can see the abuse of powers now. Hundreds of threads locked in all forums because of a single flame. The mod has an idea, and he blacklists anyone who says that his idea would never work. The horror.

I'm with Recon on this one. Far, far too risky.

Violence is not the answer, its just the solution.

in theory it works. not in reality. It isn't gonna happen. nice idea though

No offense but I don't think this is a worthwhile idea. Especially the avatar. Why go through the trouble of uploading it if you can only have it for a day?

...why?

Why is everyone so obsessed with gettign to be a Mod or having powers now days? It's disgusting. If your doing things just to be a Mod one day or something along those lines then stop now, I dont care if your being helpful or not. Your doing it for the wrong reasons and therefore you shouldn't be doing it at all. I'm a Forum Cop, I run a fan site, and I'm donating to 7th Column Contests, and do I expect anything in return? No, not even when the Karma System arrives. I do it for the community not for me. I dont need ninja powers to make the community a better place, I'm doing it as we speak.

If your not doing it for the community, but for yourself, then stop now. Period.

I haven't been on since I created this thread but I read the replies and I can see Recon's point of view. Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback. I just thought it would be a cool idea but sadly idiots on Bungie make it impossible.

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

"heh"

Meh, doing this would be just... breaking the ninja oath. (Is there an oath?)

It's not the idiots.

What would you seriously do for a day? Look in awe at your Moderator Toolbar?

4Base Avalanch MELTDOWN
battle is only a prayer.....
.......Better Start PRAYING!!!!!!!
Chapter Founders Bungie's Group Support
Mob of Angry Peasants

Just wait till it falls in some power hungry hands and they go on a blacklisting rampage that takes Achronos a week to undo.

Oh wait we already have the disembodied soul to do that for us so we won't need a mod for the day.

Ok here's an idea... you can be invited into HFCS and we'll spam the heck outta the place and you'll have to clean it up, that's basically what we do... only on a larger scale.

But then the temporary Mod has to punish you right? I mean, no one gets away with Appendix. Mod or no. He/She would have to ban all of you. Oh, I love the idea now.

I'll have to disagree with mod for the day. I'll tell you why, powers will be abused. I'm sure someone can pretend to be a good member and in the end, it will be abused. I rest my case.

It's been over a year and I still am blinded by the gleam.
What exactly is different about it? Oh, and with all the mayer-for-the-day contests and such, those happen in small towns, with a population of about 1,000. And the people who win don't really do anything like make decisions and such. But Bungie.net has a population of over 1,000,000 members, and you get plenty of power (which you can abuse) and are able to act on that power. It would be fun, but the danger of having some flamer winning it would be too high.
