Let me first point out the main reasons why the First Halo was so successful:
-Awesome looking game coming out on a brand new console.
-It's a story of a super soldier fighting aliens, thus putting you in the chiefs boots and in essence giving you your own little momentary boost in confidence. Who wouldn't love to be the bad ass that causes MARINES to stop and go "whoa".
-The story itself is flawless. Screw landing on some moon or rock in the middle of no where in the galaxy, your landing on a GIANT FRIGGIN ring floating in space. When you look up in the game, you see the horizon of the Ring extending up and over you. That gives you a really big "awe" factor.
-MULTIPLAYER MULTIPLAYER MULTIPLAYER MULTIPLAYER
MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!!!!!
Now, update that awesomeness, throw in a forge mode and theatre mode, and support the game for XBox Live, and what do you have?
ONLY A GAME THAT HAS THE BEST GODDAMNED CHANCE AT BEING THE BEST GODDAMNED GAME EVER.
And I'm no Bungie fanboy, trust me, just see for your self. But I also don't hate them or think they screwed up Halo with Reach, I think they just lost sight of things around the time when they released the mythic map pack for Halo 3. That's when I really noticed them getting stupid over stuff. And then with the release of Reach, and how it's multiplayer doesn't stick true to what Halo fans are used to since Halo 2, well is it any wonder why people are excited for 343 to do something incredible.
And for the record, Ensemble did a decent job with Halo Wars, it wasn't the Halo your used to because it wasn't a FPS, but it still felt VERY Halo to me. So that gives me hope for another software studio to pick up Halo and do a good job.
I want a CE remake, and so do thousands of people, if not millions.
I want a Halo game like we ALL remember.
I want Reach's Forge, 3's theatre system, 2's campaign, and 1's multiplayer.

It might be biased on the multiplayer and Campaign thing, I think it should switch, Halo: CE's campaign and Halo 2's multiplayer, Halo 2's multiplayer is the reason Halo, Call of duty and such is there, no one else had such a first time fun experience.
Agree. HCE Campaign was magnificant. And Halo 2's MP was the best ever created (opinion). And the storyline of HCE actually was pretty cool.
You were stranded. On a gaint ring. With a lot of aliens. Ánd zombies. Lucky you, you're -blam!-ing badass, so they won't touch you. Let's save earth(:
H2's campaign was different than CE's, but not less cool. It's hard to say which one is better. I personnally liked the arbiter missions, The Arbiter, and Uprising. And the Gravemind and Delta Halo with MC.
They also did a great job with Zealots. They showed their excellent skill in combat, even though they weren't better shielded as a simple Major Domo!
Also the SP maps were sick. Everything was there even out of the maps.
Last but not least, the soundtracks.. Damn! Does anyone remember the chapter "Off the rock, through the bushes, nothing but jackal" on Delta Halo? Love it...
