If this went over PERFECTLY, I would be in Halo Heaven. However, there is way too much that could be screwed, way too easily, especially with Halo out of Bungie's hands now. No, it's better to let the olden days of yore be themselves, and not try to resurrect them in vain. If they released a package like this, they would likely make them really bad XBLA ports (Call of Duty Classic), or just really bad ports (Halo 2 Vista). If they didn't end up really bad ports, we'd get Halo Reach: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 Edition.
What I'm saying here is this: Either a port would fail really hard, or a remake would fail really hard, so they should just leave these games be. Also, putting out matchmaking for two games on one date is a bad idea. That would split the fan base, and eventually one would reign superior over the other, and people would recognize that.
As my (hopefully) final addendum, matchmaking and ranking would probably take the fun out of Combat Evolved. Take it from someone who plays it online frequently: The fun is in playing, just for playing. A ranking system would infuriate me, as you would have to implement matchmaking, which saps fun out of intent.
