I went out today and bought Halo for the PC. I installed it and registered it. But when I went to play there was an error message.

Turns out the my 4-year-old computer is out-of-date. (I'm not surprised.) And I need to get a new video card. (I'm hoping that's the only problem... I'm not the greatest when it comes to computers...)

I called Comp USA to find out the price for video cards and the guy asked if I had a AGP or a PCI slot. Does anyone know how I can figure out which slot I have so that I can buy the right card?

Thanks. ^__^

Ok, well I just did a Google Search.

AGP Slot

PCI Slot

PCI-Express Slot

Since your computer is about 4 years old, I doubt it would have an AGP Slot.

Thanks. But I have a laptop, so I can't acutally open it up to see which spot to put the card in.... ^^; Do you know if there's anyway to figure out if my computer (like in the drives sections) would say "video card is in so-and-so slot"?

Hmmm... a lap top? Exactly what kind? Compaq lap tops around that age should have a PCI slot.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Try talking to someone at an electronics store other than Best Buy about it. I believe that most laptops have different slots from desktop pcs.

I'll definately go to Comp USA... I don't really trust Best Buy for computer stuff......

According to my system properties, I've got a
2002 Hewlett-Packard
HP Notebook PC
Intel Pentium 4. Mobile CPU 1.50GHz
496 MB of Ram. ^^;;

It's good that you don't trust Best Buy. They screwed over two of my relatives with computers. They sold one a used PC and then when she said there was stuff on the HD, they just wiped it, and she lost a bunch of pictures of her grandkids.
They also disabled the Sony warrenty feature on my Uncle's laptop that he bought there.

*nods* I haven't had a personal experience, but I've heard horror stories of how Best Buy has messed up computers from my friends. So, I think I'll stick with Comp USA. ^_^

I've bought my sound-blast X-fi card from best-buy, and i've had no problems or issues with best-buy or the card. I'm not saying you guys are lying about bad customer service. I'm saying that your experiences might vary from store-to-store.

I'm not talking about buying components, games, cds, dvds, or anything else like that.
I was talking about buying PCs or laptops from them.

A special card? Okay, I'll look into that. Thanks. :)

I did read the requirements and my computer passed most of the requirements with flying colors. It's just in the example of this video card - I didn't know what my systems has (and I still don't know). So I didn't find out that my computer couldn't run Halo PC until after I installed it. :(
