So in the Halo universe, Harvest was partially glassed. But would the areas that were untouched be able to sustain life?

Maybe residue from the plasma bombardment rendered those areas sterile of life? Or maybe the immense ecological stress of having the majority of the planet's surface obliterated did.
Besides, if you were in a position to make decisions regarding human settlement, would you want to put people in a location that was previously invaded by uber hostile forces?

By 2552, it's healthy, Reach managed to clean itself up in 30 years, thats around the same time it was attacked and the date when the war ended.

Reach was terraformed.

The main problem is that glassing kills all life on the planet, and it takes billions of years for new life to appear. All the planet will have for a long time is the water circulation and weather.

But humans could terraform Reach, so they can do the same to Harvest.

So sure it was terraformed? From the looks of the end of the game it looks like they are barely returning.

I don't think they would need to terraform Harvest because the Covenant only glasses major population centers.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

It's possible. But Harvest most likely suffered more punishment by the Covenant than Reach did.

Reach pretty much had one major battle, while Harvest had the first fight, then Cole's retaking of Harvest which lasted 5 years.

I doubt Harvest is habitable right now, but in the not so far future, it could be used again.
