There are alot of people, myself included, who thought that Bungie's alteration of the halo canon with Halo: Reach was a bit disappointing. I loved the original story of The Fall of Reach. I thought the fact that this triumphant UNSC military center was completely annihilated by the covenant fleet in one day. It just showed how far superior their technology was.

Now many people argue that the story was changed to cater to a better game experience. And while I may believe that to be true, I think the story could have just as easily been changed to cater to canon. The first bit of the campaign could be fighting with the innies, or fighting the covenant on other planets.

Anyway, the question that I'm building up to is simply this:

If they made a Halo movie that started at the beginning of the Spartan II program, how would you like them to handle that part of the story? like the book or more like the game?

Books, hands off.

If anything, something along the lines of a movie version of FoR. With some Halsey's journal thrown in the mix.

I personally would like to see a mixture of both. I like the story of Noble Team. I can let it go that most of the members shouldn't be alive. It's perfectly feasable that a couple Spartan III's were taken to form "headhunter squads".

Now if I did the movie, I'd keep it almost exactly like TFoR. Maybe throw a few references to Noble Team's actions (radio chatter, etc.) I don't think I'd have Dr. Halsey meet any of them, but maybe she gets a glimpse on a video feed or something, and that's why she's not completely surprised to find Spartan III's with Kurt by the time we get to GoO. You kind of get that vibe that she's always known anyway.

agreed. I liked Halsey's journal. It solidified my thought that she and keyes had somethin' going on, although I never would have put 2 and 2 together to realize that Miranda was her daughter.

I'd also have never guessed that Miranda was actually Halsey. So to speak.

But talking about the movie, I'd make the whole of it about the childhood and training of the S-II, I don't think it'd reach a point where it'd make sense to mention the other program. Still, I'd include Sam's death towards the end and add a few second-long scenes during the credits that'd act like "teasers" towards a next movie and their adulthood.
