Anyone got any quick tips for drawing Spartans?
Im crap at drawing, looks like the only halo inspired art i could do is screenshots. Been trying to browse stuff on websites like that deviantart but for some reason near enough every thing on there is for people who think their cartoon animals which is a bit irrelivant for wanting to draw robot looking things :/
I wish i could do proper good halo art stuff like the multiplayer concept art on the BETA menu on reach if you know what i mean :/

I have just started recently developing my drawing skills.
All I can say is; detail!

For your first few drawings, just pick a picture of a spartan, then just draw lines first, every line you see in the spartan, draw over it a with 1 pixel black round brush.

After that, colour the whole thing yourself, part by part.
First the helmet, then the shoulders, then the chest, so on.

First take a medium color for (for example) the shoulder, then slowly build up to the light and dark parts.

I painted This spartan myself 2 days ago, took me about 9 hours (using a mouse).

If you look at the leg, I took a middlecolor for the green, and painted the whole leg, then I zoomed in around 700% and started adding other tones of light and dark green, with a 1 pixel round brush.

When you've practised enough you can start creating your own spartan.

Also, if you want your drawings to reach the multiplayer BETA screen, you will need years of practise, and a creative mind.

If you really love drawing, spend a lot of time on it, practise makes perfect.

If you can read this, you are looking at my signature

Achieving the same quality as the pictures used int he Beta and so on takes years of practice as mentioned above.

what I do is to quickly sketch something on paper, take a pic with something, quality doesn't matter, then i line and color based on the sketch.

the reason I do it like that is because I tend to draw better overall with a pen or pencil, and the proportions are better.

Next week I'll receive my pen Tablet. so i will skip the intial sketching on paper and take it directly in Photoshop.

As for drawing a spartan, I like to draw the individual parts (arms, head, torso etc.) first roughly, then use reference images to add detail, use several layers. a nice touch when blending colors more artisticly is to use Smudge Tool (in Photoshop) and enable scattering. in other programs that tool is called "Just Add Water".

good luck with the drawings.
