I wouldn't mind the negative stuff if it was presented rationally. Every game has its weaknesses, and Halo 2 is going to have some flaws in it. Can't be helped; even 100+hour work weeks can't catch all of them... Bungie staff are only human.
A reasoned debate, based upon facts in evidence and conducted with some sense of decorum, would actually help Bungie. "Many hands make light work" kinda stuff applies.
Unfortunately what we get is a bunch of uninformed speculation, founded upon rumour or "friend of a friend" stuff, written in a panicky/angry style that's almost unreadable. Or is unreadable. All I see is X-treme Conclusion-Jumping (now on Fox!) based on gut feeling and herd instinct which seems to ignore any inconvenient facts that get in the way.
Look at the "rocket tracking sucks" threads... not one of them pays attention to first-hand accounts (from players at FanFest, E3, or later demos) that rockets don't track players. Only vehicles. *Poof*, most of the arguments become moot when you take that into account. But still the flames roar on.
Look at the "new HUD is too cluttered" threads... not one of them pays attention to folks telling them that the Beta interface is almost certainly not the same as the final one will be, because Beta players need more info. *Poof*, most of the arguments become moot when you take that into account. But still the flames roar on.
I could go on about the "no health bar" threads, or "no ATV" threads, or "no pistol" threads, or many others... but then I'd get all angry again.
