Here me out, guys.

At first, I did not trust 343. I thought that they were all about the money, and would destroy the Halo franchise. However, after playing Reach, I have to say that 343 deserves a chance. Bungie is the last company that I would suspect to destroy their own Canon(Halo: Reach VS Halo: The Fall of Reach), but they did.

So far, it seems that 343 hasn't really done anything wrong with the Halo lore. In fact, they seem to be expanding upon it without completely contradicting/breaking old Canon. Now I'm a story man, and I love Halo's story. I've read the books, and I hold them at a high level of Canonical authority. IMO, Bungie took a huge leap of faith with Reach, changing Canon at it's proverbial "starting point", and leaving off the Halo franchise with a bad taste in my mouth. Halo: Reach's campaign deserved a lot more thought and care put into it than what Bungie gave it.

So, I think 343Industries does deserve the benefit of the doubt. We need to see how they can revitalize the Halo Franchise, and from what I've seen from them, I'm not disappointed. I have faith that the Halo Universe was left in the right hands.

What do all of you guys think? Do you think 343Industries, if not "trusted", should at least be given a chance?

It's a simple answer. Yes... or no.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Yes.

I'll give 343 their chance with the Halo franchise. I am a little bit skeptical about it, but who knows, alot of Bungie employees are in 343 and that must be worth something.

Allthough I dont like at all that they are making Halo 4. They should have just left the Master Chief's story right there, perfect ending to the trilogy, dammit.

If they use simular game engines. Not like bad FPS games. One guy from bungie works there now, so yeah, they're good.

I agree with you. But still, a little skepticism doesn't hurt.

I'd prefer if the Halo franchise just died altogether, but if anyone's going to continue working on it, it may as well be a studio dedicated to it.

I would have preferred that it died to, but after Halo: Reach, I just don't think it should end on this kind of note.

They have Frankie, and he said he doesn't want to make Halo games annual.

That's good enough for me.

Well, thus far, they have done alright. Halo: Legends had a few issues, but the majority could be put down to either artistic license, or was explained in later media. I haven't read the reprints of the books, but from what I can gather, they didn't really fix anything in the main story, but added some interesting bits at the back of the book, relating to Legends or other media.

Waypoint is a nice extra to have; they occasionally have interesting things on there, and Evolutions and Cryptum were both great editors to the Halo universe, especially the latter.

Another positive for 343 is that Frankie actually answers the fans when canon problems become apparent, something I wish Bungie would do from time to time.

So, yes, I trust 343 with Halo.

Here's my advice to you son, its a life lesson you shan't forget.

Some people are like Slinkies. They aren't good for anything in particular, but it still makes you smile when you push them down the stairs

Yes

Wait, Frankie actually addresses people's concerns?

I believe so. One of the memorable ones was when everyone was complaining about the human-looking ruins, in the Babysitter. He said, "Who said they were Forerunner?" which killed the complaining.

No. Bungie is what makes Halo for me. Sure, Halo: Reach broke canon. But Bungie... is Bungie. Sure, in terms of canon continuation it might be a good choice, but... it just doesn't feel right.

Bungie breaking Canon didn't feel right. That was a big thing that makes me glad that they are done with Halo. Bungie did what I thought 343 would do! I can't just forgive that.

Seeing as how Bungie has gotten bored with Halo, (evident with Reach) I'm glad 343 is taking over.

Supreme Dictator, Industrial Polluter, Megalomaniac, Corrupt Politician, Underhanded Reprobate, Rainforest Ravager, Puppy Kicker, Oil Spill Coordinator, Holiday Hater, and an Insurance Salesman.

I say no.

Not that I don't think that 343 can't make a good Halo game, in fact they probably could. I just think that Halo is fine being over and done with.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I'm a little unsure, but the majority are remnants of Bungie.

I don't want Halo being left on a rotten note(Reach). I'm glad 343 is taking over because I don't think they will get incredibly lazy with it (Reach).

Well that's where we'll have to agree to disagree I think. I had no problems with Reach.

No, I do not trust 343i. I don't trust Bungie either, not now, but that most assuredly does not mean that I trust 343.

Absolutely, just like Bungie 343i has a great design team. Actually some former Bungie employee's work for Bungie like Franky O'Connor. If you looked at most the staff interviews, I personally think their going to do a great job with the Halo Canon.

Yes.

Legends was great, evolutions and all books and reprints since then have been awesome, aside from the encylodpedia's mistakes and occanional misprints since then.
