the reason that i haven't ranked up anymore in H3 is simple.
if im general and lose a single game, i will get about 20 messages asking me how much i paid for the 50 on ebay.
if im brigadier, i would get messages saying, cant get a 50, noob?

In the book first strike admiral whitcomb said that he had armed tons of nova bombs (bombs that were made to destroy entire planets) at reach so that the covenant would either get killed by the explosion or hopefully take a bomb on their ship and then take it to their home planet for examination.

i know that in ghosts of onyx a grunt finds ONE nova bomb that some huragoks are investigating while on a cruiser and the huragoks reactivate it and blow up pretty much a whole covenant armada.

but what happened to the rest of the nova bombs?
because after you inish lone wolf you will go to were halsey talks and it is set about 35 years or so after the events of reach, so the planet should have been blown up long time ago.

have i missed something stated in the books or is there just a big hole in the plot?

OT: going to school now so i cant answer, but will when i get back.

If it's impossible that a bomb stayed on Reach, then the only possibility is that they were all taken from Reach. The Reach loot was stored in the cargo holds of a supercarrier, so the bombs could have been placed kilometers apart. There's no way one grunt and a bunch of engineers knew every single item inside the behemoth of a ship.

I have never read any Halo books before but apparently the books themself are really not related to the games, maybe a few events, but no. I heard this from somewhere but I just can't remember.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

They are directly related but some details don't transfer well between so there are things that don't add up. This isn't one of those cases, the book never says Reach was destroyed by the NOVA bombs, it says that the bombs going off is the plan, but planning and doing are two different things.

Great. I would like to start reading the books sometime. What would be the first Halo book to read?

Contact Harvest is a great book to start on. Its well before the events of the Halo Games (other than Halo Wars) and it explains how the Human-Covenant War starts and focuses on Sergeant Johnson.

The Fall of Reach
The Flood
First Strike
Ghosts of Onyx

Those 4 are to be read in that order because they follow on and they are related to the main Halo storyline. The others can be read whenever, they are stand alone.

Thanks. I will see how I go reading them.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

He never said he had tons of NOVA Bombs, they were prototypes, so there was most likely one or two.

there was only the one NOVA bomb, no more then one.

The least important of the books is the flood. While it offers some new stuff, nothing really important.

Wrong, Whitcomb said several, but never mentioned the specific number.
