Something smells fishy...

I'm seeing faint white strips/lines of light scrolling down my monitor when I play Halo 2 Vista. Actually it happens when I play CoD WaW also.

I'm not sure if it's my monitor or something else such as my graphics card.

I recently installed my graphics card.

Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT

Also my graphics card doesn't really get any higher than 75 degrees Celsius. And, when not doing anything graphically intensive (gaming) it fluctuates between 43C and 45C.

I did test out my monitor by connecting it to my laptop and playing the same game. I didn't have the same problem.

I'm really hoping that this is just a monitor problem, but now I'm not so sure.

Additional info: I don't have any monitor troubles when I use the onboard video.

Just hoping maybe some of you guys can help me out:)

That's the number of bans in this thread. Next time you want to derail something, go stand in front of a train.

Does it occur on all game detail settings (e.g. tried it on low settings, etc?).

I had that graphics card once, have those games you mention, and never got a problem.

I honestly don't know, my hunch is that it's the graphics card, but, i honestly don't know.

Any chance you can take a picture of your monitor when it occurs?

Yes it does occur on all game settings.

I was having this problem with H2V and not any other games. But then it started happening with other games such as CoD WaW.

It might be hard to take a picture because the lines are barley visible.

You know how when after someone films a computer screen and you watch the film you can see white bars scrolling quickly down the computer screen? Well my problem is sort of like that except the bars are barely visible. But they are noticeable.

The problem doesn't occur when I'm at the home screen or when I play Halo: Combat Evolved.

Also, when games are loading I don't see the problem.

Just checking but have you updated your drivers?

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

White lines in Halo 2 are caused by poor programming. MS failed with h2v.

As for WaW, check your card and drivers.

The lines are more like shadow lines scrolling down the monitor when I play those games.

Also my drivers are up to date.

I'm thinking maybe it's a monitor problem. But I'm still not sure.

I'm using a DVI to VGA adapter to connect my VGA monitor to my graphics card.

Recently I've been thinking that the shadowy scrolling lines might be being caused by the DVI to VGA adapter. The adapter seems to be a bit loose.

So I've decided to buy a new DVI to VGA adapter soon in order to pin point whether or not the current adapter is faulty.
