There are a lot of new members who ask questions there and get spammed, flamed, or worse, ignored by the juvenile and immature members who (literally) waste their time in that forum.
Helping out the new kids (whatever age they are) by setting good examples is one of many ways to help ensure the Mods won't have as many spammers on their hands in the future.
Amen to that Frogwart. Amen indeed.
Well, it seems Frogwart has taken the words straight out of my mouth. A good point. Setting a good example, however, is difficult because the new guys rarely come onto The Septagon. This is the only real place on b.net where civilised conversation happens. It is my new home. We have debates, not flame wars. Perhaps if new users were made to come and see this forum first, or somesuch, then they would see the better side of b.net, rather than the (mainly) bad in NM.
The problem as I see it is that new users come along, post something, get flamed and therefore think that is the way you are supposed to behave round here. Perhaps if they got a look at the more polite way things are dealt with round here, they would adopt that attitude instead.
