seriously dude, if the only arguement you can come up with backing the 7800 GTX as the best is cause its got 512 mb ram in it... get lost.

and i bet it doesnt even need 512 mb... a lot of the companies that stick more ram in the card is just to make it look better... most games dont even use the 256... in fact most dont even use the 128

I know......it's funny how alot of people see big numbers and think its gotta be better. But we shouldn't be to rough on people on these misconceptions, because the computer is a very complicated piece of machinery. I bought a Dell a few years ago, not because I am a big Dell fan, but because I just didn't know much about computers. Could of had twice the pc for the amount of money I paid for my 4600. Luckily the 4600 can be upgraded a bit and I bought a ATI Radeon 9600 card that made quite a difference.

I havre the answer to ypour problem, all you have to do is download and install the drivers in my sig, Where it says "i can see the colors" Thats gonna fix the color part, plus gives you a more stable performance.

thanks that's basically the reason I wanted one...even though I probably am still going to get one.

Then again, you can't deny that the 7800GTX 512MB is by far the best consumer card out there. True, it won't use all of that graphics memory now, but soon that will be the standard just as 256MB is the standard now.

On the bottom of the box it tells you compatible cards (there's probably more since the game was made 2 years ago).

i will neither deny nor confirm that its the best simply because theres a lot of preference involved. i for some reason can actually tell a difference in lighting between the two companies so i will always prefer ati. just cause it looks better to me. i could just be seeing things, but hey, who really cares?

ummm the game was made quite a bit longer than 2 years ago... ive been playing for longer than that i can assure you.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

256 is not the standard right now.
At the max games require 128. NO game requires 256.

No. HL2 runs on most card that are DirectX 7 or above. There aren't any 256MB Dx7 cards that I know of.
The lowest reccomendation to run it reasonably well is 64MB.(this is unofficial... the official requirement is Dx7 cards or above)

Did we ever figure out if Lt. Heart BRAKER had a PCI, PCI-Express, or AGP slot?

I know if he only has a PCI, the Geforce FX5500 is good.

You're com specs can be found by right clicking "My Computer". I'm wondering if a 256MB Geforce FX5500 will run games such as Doom3 or FEAR on low settings. I'm wondering because sadly I'm stuck with PCI. And about that driver issue.... why does that driver work, but not the newer one from Intel's website? Since I now have the old one installed, can I install the new one now and still see the players colors? Thanks guys.
