Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

Okay, there were originally 12 Halo's before the Battle of the Capital. It's assumed that the other 5 were destroyed (at least 2 are confirmed to be destroyed).

Now my question is: Why didn't the Forerunners replace the destroyed Halo's (as seen with installation 4B during Halo 3?) Yes, I know the Forerunners were on the verge of defeat, but if they had the capacity to be remade why didn't they? Time maybe?

well
a) is it confirmed that they weren't remade? maybe they were
b) they probably commissioned more than they needed. first rule of government spending: why build one of something, when you can build two for twice as much

Well, MB had control over 5, so they only really had control over 7. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

There's no need for a spoiler warning in the title with a title like that. It's obvious that there would be discussion of the book in the OP, so it's obvious that there's spoilers in the topic.

...Maybe you should read it all before clicking into a thread with "Cryptum" in the subject...
Just a thought.

My gun goes PewPewPew!

I am not sure where in the book exactly, but I swear in the last 30 or 40 pages I saw it mentioned they wouldn't replace the installations beyond repairing the ones at the Ark.

Indeed, but we'll have to wait for the other two books to see what's up. By the end of the book there are only 7 rings left, and indeed there are currently 7 rings present during the Human-Covenant war.

However, the real question is what will happen in the two upcoming books that:

A) Made the max number of rings 7

B) What/why installation 04 was automatically rebuilt on the Ark once the original Alpha Halo was destroyed, and not the others.

"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Only one ring made it back to the Ark from the Capitol yet there were an extra 5 there. I don't understand that. 2 were lost at the Capitol, leaving 9 unconfirmed in status. If only 12 were commissioned, what are the additional 5 at the Ark?

This is the first book in the Trilogy. Questions will be answered.

The way I interpreted it, only one ring made it through the portal, which I found confusing as they had just set up the seven Halos perfectly after stating that Mendicant Bias could only control five at a time.

Another thing that is confusing is Bornstellar's ancilla's comment about the different species the Librarian had cataloged, then stored on the various Halos. Granted, she could go back out and gather up the specimens of the species lost, but what of the San Shyum? If I recall correctly, they were wiped out (as a race) by the Master Builder.

...or they could have been on the single Halo that made it through; hell if I know.

Maybe...cultural memory could have preserved their survival on the remaining Halo, thus leading to their beliefs, and the formation of the Covenant? You know what I'm saying?
