Because everyone else who owned a Xbox 1 played it. Of course they did, because they wanted to, not because they were told to by hype. You seem to relate hype as the only reason H2 was so popular and that's not true. Mainly I think people played H2 (and kept on playing long after the beginning hype) because they loved to play the game.
Please explain why it died on 9-25-07 then. Oh wait, the last of the hype died on that day, and then people moved on.Lol, you overly simplified a complex subject. There are a lot of other factors that came into play that led to enjoyment of H2. People are not sheep, if the game was all hype and no play, it would not have lasted. There was no mass-hypnosis going on, we just loved the game.
I think you're a little too hung up on the 'hype' thing.
