Well, assuming the marines kill Master Chief, then the next in command would assume control over the Autumn. He would most likely land the ship on the ring as well, but without Master Chief, they would have never been rescued from the Truth and Reconciliation, thus the marines never learn about the control room. The Covenant would unleash the Flood, and they would most likely consume everything on the ring. (Unless 343 Guilty Spark were to find a marine and convince him that he should activate Halo, in which case that marine just destroyed all life).
Assuming that Guilty Spark doesn't find a human to activate Halo, 'The Vadam (some of you may know him better as The Arbiter) would never become the Arbiter, because Halo was never destroyed. The Covenant would find Earth, and attack New Mombasa. Just as before, Regret would leave during the invasion, and lead the In Amber Clad (but this time without Chief and Johnson), to Delta Halo. Without a Master Chief to kill Regret, the schism never happens and the Elites never join the humans. Without the Arbiter to kill Tartarus, he may force Miranda to activate the ring and eradicate all life. Assuming Truth doesn't make Tartarus go to Delta Halo and activate it, the entire Covenant fleet returns to Earth. The Covenant decimate the planet, go through the portal and activate the Ark. And such, the Halo array activates and all life ceases to exist.
Basically, all life in the galaxy is going to die, the only change could be when, judging by assumptions.
The schism would still happen one way or another as Truth was planning with Tartarus since before Halo 2 to get rid of the Elites and replace them with the Brutes.
