ps. any chance for race to mix things up?
Race always seemed like the gametype that made everybody drop out of the server in a heart beat. I'd rather not include it. I love it myself, but, it's just that I'm not sure it has enough of a following on Halo PC.

Something smells fishy...

Halo Custom Edition: - (Small/Medium Custom Map Server)
No Remorse - Team Slayer
[OHC3]Hang 'Em High - Team Slayer
No Remorse - Capture The Flag
Precipice - Capture the Flag
CMT Snow Grove - Team Slayer
Precipice - Team Slayer
H2 New Mombasa - Capture the Flag
z Sanctuary H2 pb2 - Team Slayer
CMT Snow Grove - Capture the Flag
Chronopolis C3 Public Beta - Team Slayer
z Sanctuary H2 pb2 - Capture the Flag
H2 New Mombasa - Team Slayer
No Remorse - FFA Pistols No Shields

Trying to figure out if I need to add more to the Custom Edition playlist, but, I don't want to make it to where people have to download tons of maps to play.

I think you should add the map: Seclusion to the Halo: Custom Edition map list.

In my experience the best gametype for Seclusion is CTF. Due to the fact that the maps is quite small the Slayer or Team Slayer gametypes would be impractical. The reason being players would be way too close proximity to each other and spawn killing would be way too easy and frequent. Players would probably die before they ever had a chance to fire a shot. Essentially it would be too close for comfort.

Seclusion map: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=3969

I thoroughly enjoy the CTF gametype. I especially enjoy playing CTF on Bloodgulch. Thus I will grace you with my suggestions for your CTF gametype.

Capture the Flag Gametype:
Game Rules:
Assault: No
Single Flag: Off
Flag Must Reset: No
Flag At Home To Score: Yes
Captures To Win: 3
Time Limit: 20 Minutes

Everything is good here. I just have one suggestion. I suggest you do not set a time limit. Time limits will usually end the game before the flag limit is reached. That can be fine but it can also be disappointing. People will be in the midst of a game that they are very involved in and when time expires it leaves them wanting more; thus feeling disappointed. Also, 3 flags are usually captured relatively quickly so you most likely will not need to set a time limit.

Player Options:
Number Of Lifes: Infinite
Maximum Health: 100%
Shields: Yes
Respawn Time: Instant
Respawn Time Growth: None
Odd Man Out: No
Invisible Players: No
Suicide Penalty: None

Fine.

Item Options:
Infinite Grenades: No
Weapon Set: Normal
Starting Equipment: Generic

Fine.

Vehicle Options:
Vehicle Respawn Time: 30 Seconds
Both sides have maximum vehicles

I have two suggestions. Firstly, I suggest you do not set a vehicle respawn time. Essentially because since vehicles can't get destroyed or anything there's no point other than to maintain a balance of vehicles on the map. In my opinion it's more fun and challenging to try to steal all the opposing team's vehicle and place them at your team's base. Secondly, I'm not a big fan of having all vehicles available. If infinite grenades are not enabled players operating vehicles such as tanks, ghosts, and banshees have too easy a time killing. If I were you I'd make the vehicle set to only warthogs or custom. What you cold do is make available one chain gun warthog and one rocket warthog for each team. So that's 2 warthogs for either team.

Indicator Options
Objectives Indicator: Motion Tracker
Other Players On Radar: All
Friend Indicators On Screen: Yes

I have two suggestions. Firstly, I suggest you set the objectives indicator to: none. Reason being is that the flags are way too easy to find which drastically makes the game less challenging. For example: when the flag is taken by both teams and there is a sort of "steak out" both teams try to retrieve their flag in order to score. It can make it easier to retrieve a captured flag if the objectives indicator highlights the flag. I think it makes it more challenging if you don't know where the flag is at all times. Secondly, I suggest you disable the radar. The game is more challenging if players don't always know from where enemies are approaching.

Teamplay Options
Friendly Fire: Off
Friendly Fire Penalty: None
Auto Team Balance: Yes

I have one suggestion. I suggest you not set the teams to be automatically balanced. Reason being is that a lot of the time the teams are very one-sided skill wise. Auto balancing prevents players, who are willing to help out the less skillful team, to do so.

Barnacle_Blast, you are a huge help. I agree with everything you said. Going into Halo to change the gametypes now and I'll be editing the OP afterwards. Thanks for your input!

By the way, how do you feel about Designated Targets? I'm still half-in-half on whether it should be implemented.

Also, with the map on Custom Edition, I'll look into it once I get the new Internet. I was really hoping to have just maps that most everyone had so that it wouldn't boot people from the game that much. That's why I'm taking out the special Hang 'Em High map.

(P.S. About the vehicles, I decided that each team should also get a ghost in addition to a Chain/Rocket hog)

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Race doesn't cause dropping when voted on my 1.00ce server.

I still need an answer on my Gandanur question.

Posted by: Dr Syx
The only problem with Gandanur that I've found with test server running is that I can't edit the Init after I've installed it. I like editing it in file form rather than editing in the actual program. Anyone know if there's a way around that in Gandanur?
Also, I'm still thinking about Race as a voting option.

You could make a list of custom maps people need to download in order to play on your server.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by designated targets.

I'm not entirely keen on the idea of adding Ghosts to the map. If you're on foot it's extremely difficult to prevent yourself from being splattered by an opposing player in a Ghost. It is indeed easier to take out a Ghost if infinite grenades are implemented. But even then it's hard.

That's what I was afraid of about the ghost. (Kinda funny that we can now see how it would be nice to have some form of Armor Lock for that purpose xD)

The one negative thing that Halo PC is known for is grenade parties. I might add another type for Team Slayer that has infinite grenades for maps that include vehicles. That way people can have a decent stand against an enemy in a ghost, grenade parties (At least in small/medium maps) would be non-existant, and there would still be ghosts on the maps. I could also just take out the ghosts in general. Which would be better?

Designated Targets is a Slayer type where you only get a point when you kill a specific person you're hunting for. The person you're hunting for has a waypoint above their head.

Update - I just added Gandanur officially into the picture so I have added vote options. As probably assumed I just sat down and copied the entire playlist for the map vote list. I'm going to add in some Race. I need suggestions for good maps for Race, though.

I know there isn't a gametype named Designated Targets, so I'm assuming you're referring to the Juggernaut gametype. Am I right?

It's a Slayer gametype that has to be custom made. It's where you turn on "Kill In Order". I don't know what the official name for it is, but, it says "designated targets" in the description, so, I just named it that.
