Why is it that a Grunt can take 5 or 6 DMR body shots, when a fully armored Spartan can take about 8 AR shots, with no shields and full health? It doesn't make sense! Keep in mind, the DMR fires the 9.5 mm round, and while fake, is bigger than the 7.62 that the AR fires.

It's a video game.

Think about this:

BR: 4 shot kill (12 bullets)
DMR: 5 shot kill (5 bullets)

?????

Think about this:
Spartans can survive orbital impact, but can only survive a 20ft. jump by assasinating an elite for an achievment

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

The grunts are armored too.

Remember, some of the things that are gameplay related are non-canon, because they are just there for balancing purposes. Things like books are better if you want a canonical example of the power of weapons.

As for the 9.5 mm round being fake, remember that just because it doesn't exist now doesn't mean that it won't exist in 500 years. Also it can blow through a Spartan's helmet.

Seriously. It's for the balance of gameplay. Not every single aspect of the gameplay is meant to be taken seriously.

well apparently the shotgun shoots an 8 gauge shell so that should be much more effective than it is but that would be unfair.

I actually had this exact same argument with a friend of mine.

Matman I know that, but I was just voicing my thoughts on the subject.

Ssh, you'll only make it worse. They'll start up about how the guns deal different damage with the same bullets and someone will have to step up and claim velocity, thus saving the day. Why not just avoid the trouble?

Grunts possess Covenant-made armor and a natural exoskeleton. They're notorious for their toughness.
