Subject: How Halo 3 could have ended - The MC activates the Ark!

I was just thinking to myself about Halo 3 and wondered whether it would have been more productive for MC to activae the Ark, distroying all life in the galaxy!

Think about it;
there is a huge portal that could transport every last human on earth to th Ark in moments.
(Humanity is suposed to have been reduced to just earth anyway)
The Ark is out of range from the Halos and so would protect the humans.

The Arbiter would probably ask for a couple of weeks for his eltes to gather all the sangheli from their home world.

Once all sentient life has been eliminated, the humans could ride back through the portal and back to earth.

Then the MC and the Arbiter would stay behind to destroy Alpha Halo and the Ark and return home(events of Halo 3 return to normal.)

That way, the humas and the elites know that they are the only sentient species in the galaxy and can respread without the worry of of another Covenant to threaten them.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

But Installation 04B would still prematurely fire, tear itself apart and critically damage the Ark if he did that.

Why???Do you really want to destroy all life in the galaxy for nothing???

Why??

To get rid off the covenant? And kill other innocent sentients??

I don't even need to explain the stupidy of this plan

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

It probably would be the better option, if done right. But, there are probably some innocent beings out there that don't deserve to die, ya know?

Try and think of it from humanities perspective.

You have been at war with a colection of aliens for about 30 years and have been reduced from hundreds of established colonies to just one, Earth!

Now that the war is over, your standing at the controle pannel, and you think to yourself.

"Do i activate all of the Halos, whiping out every sentient species in the galaxy, so that nothing like the Covenant could ever happen again.
Or do i just walk away, and hope that it doesn't ever happen again."

The human race was almost exterminated for god sake, are you saying that you would have just walked away?

Lets not forget the Flood was on the Ark. Which meant destroying the Ark and the Alpha Halo was the only real option...

Activating the Halos would have given Halo 3 a bittersweet ending, more or less like Reach. And while that might have been better in terms of deleting the possibility of a pointless sequel to the story, I do feel the ending in Halo 3 fitted the trilogy better than anything else would have done...

There are something like 8 billion Sangheili at that time. Earth is not the last Human world, there are still other colonies. The UNSC and the Sangheili really did not have that many ships left by the end of the war. Moving that many people from multiple worlds would be impossible.

Cryptum also reveals that Halo obliterates ecosystems. Anything with a nervous system is wiped out. Earth, Sangheilios - most habitable worlds would be left as dead husks requiring terraforming.

Then there is all the other innocent civilisations throughout the galaxy as well.

So I assume that you would do it yourself if asked, rather than let someone else do it?

I also assume that you would not object to being killed off should the positions of Humanity and another species places be switched?

How many infants and families; innocents basically, would you be killing for no reason? It is sort of disturbing that someone would contemplate irrational genocide.

"Were it so easy..." -Thel Vadame.

Arbiter:
"Well chief- here we go. Kill everything except our two species."

MC:
"Thought I'd mix things up a little bit."

Arbiter:
"Great, here we go!" * both press the activation button*

MC:
"Well there goes everybody. Time to go home to nothing except Human and Sangheili. :)"

Arbiter:
"Yep. Tons of undeserving populations needed that. Job well done."

Favorite video game series: Professor Layton or Half-Life
Favorite video game: Super Mario Galaxy
Favorite movie series: Pixar (It's not really a series, but I just can't pick.)
Favorite movie: Inception

Because, you know, killing billions upon billions of Grunts and Jackals who never wanted anything to do with the war is fair, right?

And killing of the populations of entire planets featuring Mgalekgolo, Yanme'e and Huragok, who are really just drones, is fair too right?

And not to mention killing off all of Earth's animals,
which basically makes all of those years of trying to save endangered animals pointless is fair too, RIGHT?!!!

you are all overlooking the fact that neither the humans nor the sanghelli (forgive the spelling) know exactly what the ark is. more or less how to operate it, or where the portal leads. also that their is anything even left on the other end of the portal by now. if they activated the halos nothing would be able to live in the galaxy for millions of years without forerunner knowledge of how to restore life and create habitats which was lost a long time ago. plus if they did then the halo saga would have ended (nothing left to fight) kinda boring =P

also flood orgins are from outside the galaxy like the ark wouldnt be affected by the halos you'd just be killing off the food source.
