Subject: SPOILER/ The prisoner and Didact \SPOILER

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

The captive, if trans sentiant which I assume he is, will be uneffected by a Halo pulse. I also believe that the flood can't infect other trans sentiant lifeforms... Therefore Precursor made flood.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The Flood can infect anything, as long as it has sufficient biomass to host the Flood supercell.

It also needs calcium, for the Flood is calcium based as we are carbon; that's why jackals aren't supposed to be able to be infected (but Halo Wars changes that, but I dismiss it as a gameplay feature rather than canon).

It is very much possible the Precursors don't have enough calcium, or they have natural antibodies that destroy the Flood; there's a whole slew of things for them to render them immune. If they are apparently 45-foot tall, trans-sentient beings, they are most likely immune unless they consciously want to be infected. Just my thoughts.

Natural antibodies that destroy flood....

...And the last living one is on a planet that was inhabited by humans who find a cure

I cant think of a better description of this than well

oooh good thinking people

so by studying the precursor, humans were able to make the anti-Flood virus (or whatever it was)

then when they were defeated by the -blam!-Runners, they put an extra layer of prison round the Precursor captive and made up some ridiculous stories about him. Perhaps Didact didn't even speak to the Captive, he just thought he did - it was actually just a human trick (remember he didn't understand how it was possible that human technology could breach the Prisoner's cage).

The captive perhaps is nothing but a preserved specimen that contained the DNA/antibodies/whatever necessary for killing the Flood. Sort of like how sometimes animals/humans have random immunities to various diseases, and so there tissue is preserved for later study so we can genetically engineer cures.

After all, how could anything, even a Precursor, stay alive for millions of years inside an impenetrable cell.

This raises an interesting point - if the Prisoner is simply the biological key to destroying the Flood, then Mendicant Bias must have PROCURED this solution, which could have won the war, but then decided not to use it. (!). Perhaps that was when Gravemind started speaking to him, because Gravemind (!=the Captive) knew he was staring at another defeat unless MB switched sides.

oooh!

Born Stellar was born in the Orion cluster. And Born Stellar becomes the Didact. So maybe there will be a mythological showdown between the Prisoner/Scorpio (possible Gravemind) and new-Didact/Orion.
