Not Office of Naval Intelligence ONI. I mean ONI the game. I've been playing Marathon and Durandal and remember playing Oni back when the PS2 came out. Was it PS2? I can't remember that well.

Anyway, short of buying a PS2 and hunting for a copy, anyone have a recommended way to play it? I can't foresee it coming up on XBoxLive Arcade anytime soon, so maybe an emulator?

Edit: Just realized its available for PC, as well. I'm afraid of buying it in case it doesn't run, as I had a similar issue with SimLife and SimAnt recently. Can anyone confirm its playability/unplayability?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Someone here posted not that long ago a multiplayer mode for ONI. It looked awesome.

Though, I never got a chance to play it, it looks pretty good.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

Oni was originally available for PC, Mac, and PS2. Oni runs fine in Windows XP. I've never tried to install it in Windows Vista or Windows 7. However the guys in the forums over at Oni Central can likely answer all of your compatibility questions and issues.

ONI was a horrible, horrible game. Don't waste the bandwidth downloading it.

That is a bit harsh. It certainly suffers from some flaws such as: lack of multiplayer, sparsely populated maps, and an absence of diary entries and new moves in the second half of the game. However I would describe the game as incomplete or unpolished rather than "horrible". It can still be a fun game to play and the control system is simple to learn yet allows the player excellent control in combat.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

The game is called Oni, not ONI, it's an easy way to justify which is which.

Quality of the game aside, I'd like to play it anyway. I will be playing it mostly for the nostalgia and fanboy factor.
