Its power was not meant to be like they in multilayer but that never changed it from campaign setting to MP settings its funny really that the gun we all came to know and love was a mistake lol hats off to old school fails Honestly, I could never imagine Halo: Combat Evolved being as great as it was without that Pistol being as powerful as it was.
I actually like the Reach pistol. It's really powerful, but, not so powerful it's no longer a pistol. Combat Evolved's pistol was great, but, way too powerful. It didn't even feel like a pistol. The pistol used to be a main weapon and ever since Halo 2 the Battle Rifle/DMR have taken it's place. If I had a choice, I'd choose to keep the DMR instead of the pistol. If I want a Halo: Combat Evolved experience I'll just jump on my PC and go to town.I feel that it was balanced, just fine.
It isn't as accurate as people think it is. I find getting headshots are sometimes more easier when I don't zoom in. There's times when I had the crosshair on a Elite's head while zoomed in and got several body shots and then landed a headshot rather than a clean headshot. Also, it's not very effective over long distances.
And it doesn't feel overpowered as long as you land headshots. For me, it only feels overpowered when I use it to land bodyshots. What I mean is that it felt overpowered for being a pistol. Overall it worked great with the way the game worked. They did wonderful with the pistol. It's just that it shouldn't have been a pistol, which, is why they replaced it with the Battle Rifle in Halo 2.
