Subject: Sangheili (Elites) Females

If you look at the games, you don't even need to look at the books, you'll see that the power struggle between the Elites and the Brutes almost directly mirror the struggle between the Samurai and the Shogun.

That being said, if you look at the culture of the Elites, you'll find that they are much like the Samurai. And you don't need to watch that stupid Halo: Legends chapter to see that. They are all about honor, fearful of shaming their houses, and mortally dedicated to their cause.

This is why I think that female Sangheili don't participate in military campaigns. I think it is strictly male territory. Now like others have said in their replies, if you have a good explanation as to why she became a Zealot, then by all means. I look forward to reading said fanfic, sounds interesting.

they talk about san' shlumm which in halo 3 sanghelli are the decendants of. now im not certain and feel free to prove me wrong but the fact that their "elders" were in floating chairs in the book reminded me of the profits and their "beautiful injured warriors" were the sanghelli. 2 races from same orgins developed differently, just like humans had different kinds on their planet in the book.

*facedesk*

No, they are totally seperate species, they are not related in any way genetically. They are also from completely different worlds, the Sangheili are from Sanghelios, and the San 'Shyuum's homeworld is unknown.

How did you come to the conclusion that the Elites were the "beautiful injured warriors" as you put it? There is no basis for that assumption at all.

the home world isnt know because it was the same solar system. look this is just an assumption i based on the book cryptum. it makes alot of sense if you read the book. and sanghelios is one of the treatie planets i believe, but i cant offically prove this theory till another book or game comes out. it cant really be disproved either however

I read the book, just finished it this week, and it makes absolutely no sense to me, none whatsoever.

Sanghelios and the Prophet Homeworld are not in the same system, I don't know how close they are, but they certainly not nextdoor neighbors. As far as current canon has indicated the two species didn't even know of each other until the Sangheili, San 'Shyuum War, after which they formed the beginning of the Covenant.

Elites are indeed like the Samurai, they also kinda remind me of the Greek Spartans. Hmm, well it seems there have not been any clear-cut "this is how it is" about the females, it seems to be all about opinion, for now.

So I guess I won't run into any issues until something with canon relevance actually says "Sangheili females are not in the military". If that ever happens then I'll have to come up with a pretty damn good reason for making my character in the military, it would mess things up too much to just make it a guy instead.

I don't really have any explanation, other than she's good enough and gotten enough kills to get to that spot. Is there any place on Bungie to upload fanfics? If there was I was not aware of it, but you can find it on http://www.deviantart.com only the first chapter is up so far, it's called Halo: Dust and Echoes.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

They don't talk about Sangheili culture, let alone female Elites.

Anyway, good luck with your fanfic. I hope it comes out well. I'm writing one myself about ODSTs and Spartans. :)

EDIT: Do you have a direct link to the first chapter? I can't find it.

Yeah, I didn't think anything really did, 'cause I've never seen any, and it hasn't really been discussed in the articles on Halopedia at all, so yeah, I guess just go with it, and then come up with a good reason if things change to exculde female Elites from the Covenant military.

Cool, the ODSTs are beast, mine's not really about only the Elite character, well, you'll see how it is when you read. Good luck with your fanfic.

Here is your link, I'm linking the folder it's in so you can keep coming back for updates if you want, and feel free to check out any other stuff I write if you want.

Message your thoughts to me here if anyone reads it and if they don't already have an account on Deviant Art, if you then leave it as a comment there.

I've seen the "females don't fight" line before, so I'm wondering, where did the idea come from? From what I know of the Sangheili culture it sounds to me like it's completely merit equals position no matter what, but that's just my take on what I've read.

And I know there's at least one instance of a female being mentioned in a commanding position, if I recall it was a War Master or something that had to with Halo Wars, and it was a female.

There is no honor in hiding behind females.
Sexist, but w/e.

"Concise and devoid of elegance...what I have come to expect from human communication"-Endless Summer

In Halo Legends pt 2 there is a female...don't nerd rage their language is spoken so they don't separate the jaws. I watched on my HD LCD PC monitor and there is the "split jaw" line...

the reason that i haven't ranked up anymore in H3 is simple.
if im general and lose a single game, i will get about 20 messages asking me how much i paid for the 50 on ebay.
if im brigadier, i would get messages saying, cant get a 50, noob?

just wait for "a certain user on Bungie.net which name i cant say" to get unbanned and watch for his stories rated 18+, they usually contain stuff about elites.

I'm a lead farmer, mother lover!

This is just directed to the guy believing that the Sangheili originate from the same genus as the Shan'shyuum.

No. No they do not.
Not even remotely.
They are originating members of the covenant because before the two races it was just the Prophets, and just the Elites. When coming into contact with one another, the two species immediately went to war because the Prophers manipulated forerunner objects and transformed them to their bidding which was highly sacriligous to the Elites. The Elites had left all forerunner technology intact, refusing to touch it and defile their blessing. It was too holy for them. After wiping the floor with the prophets in hand-to-hand combat, the Prophets just began razing their planet of Sanghelios and their space-faring defense due to the advanced space technology they adapted from forerunner tech. It led into a stalemate because the Prophet's saw a good use for the Sangheili, and it was the first time the Sangheili bit their tongue on their prides.

The 2 races formed the covenant. They both had radically different views on the "mantle". The Prophets believed in a great journey to take that forerunner technology would take them. The Sangheili were forced into that situation of subjucation in many ways due to being outmatched in space.

There's nothing else to it. They clearly weren't 2 distinct species of the same genus. You say thats the same for humans but Florians (a genus of -blam!--florienus that actually existed in Indonesia), had many physical similarities to humans, while Prophets and Elites share almost nothing in common physically.
