Dude, it would be so cool if we had these pregnant sentinels that were, like, all flaming and shot out baby flaming sentinels that would be all "YARRRGH!" then they'd be like, "WHAAAAR" when they shoot.

That'd be sweet.

In order to make something italic you must first.

Word.

text Word.

text Word. <<<Cut and paste.

Word. <<<PASTED.

I dont want to be considered lazy but I think it'd be more convenient if we could simply highlight the Word. AND press and Italic button that'd immedietely Italicize everything highlighted.

That'd be sweeet.

It'd take a lot of unnecessary scripting. Is text formatting really all that vital in a community which revolves around verbal communication?

[ i ] text here [ / i ].
It's not hard, and as Psyched said, would need a lot of unecessary scripting.

Nah, it's not really worth it. A couple of other forums do it and all it does is put in <i></i> around what you're typing. It takes less than a few seconds just to type it in yourself, but probably a sizeable amount of time to actually code in the script onto the website.

It would probably lead to more "abuse" of the text-type anyway...

Well its just you'd have to jam the italicized thingy into your already completed sentence and...

IT'D JUST BE EASIER.
And how do you abuse the italicize button?

I might make the post bar thingy ridiculously confusing.

Now:

Future:

bold

I don't really consider extensive use of italics as abuse, since for me, it doesn't make the text any harder/easier to read.... But Shishka doesn't like it. And we should always do what Shishka says.

I honestly don't know what on Earth you are talking about.

PS: Really.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Well then I'll tell you :) Shishka has banned one person (I don't know for how long) and threatened others with a ban because some users in The Flood italicize their entire post every time that they post, I guess so they are unique or something...Personally it annoys the hell out of me, I can read it fine when it's just like this, but when it's a whole freakin' paragraph it's nearly imposssible for me to read it. I could read it, but it requires so much effort that I don't bother.

I must agree with everyone else and say that it would make abusing the italics much easier, and would probably take a lot of work on Achronos's part, for very little return.

Why bother when you can just use tags?

The only person I know who italicises the entire post is Steelbulletproof.

It is just as easy to script it yourself. Whoa this is hardz.

Alright, but if my pinky breaks...

I never really think about it. If I want to write in italics, I just write up the tags. It's second nature. Then again, I try hard to make sure people can read my posts. It's second nature to me.

There is a solution to this.

I made a macro in word to handle that.

You highlight your text in word, click the new Italics button and it changes the text to italics AND adds [ i] and [/ i] at the beginning and end.

Then it's a simple matter of copy and paste, which is good for long sections of text with quite a few different words in italics.

I meant something else entirely, and I'll say no more. Thanks for the information, however. I'm sure that someone out there needed it even if I did not.

In all honesty, at this point in time in the thread's life I find this entire post an oxymoron and utterly useless to it's intended audiance. Obvously someone who was truly lazy would not create a macro to italicize their text when all you have to do is press 3 buttons on your keyboard to create the italic effect.

Bear in mind, I honestly doubt that Achronos would make a button to italicize your text for you when it really isn't that hard to press [i ] [/i ].

Meh, I had no problem with completely italicized posts... but that's just me. I find it slightly more aesthetically appealing... kinda like the Crimson brothers back when we were blessed with being able to use colors for our posts...
