<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

How are flood infection forms able to infect marines while they have armour on? They pop when shot by one bullet and yet seem able to tear through a titanium alloy with easy. They presumably are even able to penetrate forerunner combat skins or otherwise the forerunner would have been practically immune to infection while in their suits. Can anyone offer an explination?

Well most of the time the Flood infects a Marine, by hoping on a area that is not covered by armor. So the face, neck, etc. But I'm, not really sure about Forerunners.

Seriously Oak, Ive been doing this -blam!- for 16 years, gimmie my Friggen starter Pokemon and dont call me till im the champion! ¬_¬

i remember in one of the books MC gets pierced by an infection form, because it went for the weak point around the neck

Somehow the flood can detect flaws in design and gaps in armour...

Somehow, the flood tentacle is made out of diamond.

not to mention, despite being extremely susceptible to bullets, they have a very sharp needle pokie thing.

bullets and hard surfaces are different. They pop from bullets because the bullets have enough force. They don't pop on armour, because there's no force on the armour. As for how they penetrate armour, I don't know.

This is the most probably answer.

I have wondered however, how that infection form did manage to get through the Chiefs armor in "The Flood." I'd chalk that one up to drama. Or maybe they can secrete some acidic substance that helps them take over their hosts.

We could probably speculate all night.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

It's sorta sketchy, but I guess they somehow find weak points and attack.

Marine armor isn't air-tight, steel, strong,or any good against a virus that spreads through contact with the skin

If I bash my head against your chest, most likely your ribs will break. If you shoot me in the head with a gun, it will pop as the infection forms.

Get my point?

you're naut cookin'

The infection forms have a razor sharp knife like 'thing' on their underside.

MC almost gets infected by one in The Flood. It manages to cut through his armor.

Whens there's no one to turn to, just aim ahead

Flood first hit the nervous system, with those tentacle needle things. Once its somewhat gained control of the individual, Im guessing they make a small hole and squeeze into rib cage of the individual. Since the flood infection forms have no skeletal structure, they can squeeze through relatively small holes. This is all off to the top of my head but you could probably go to halopedia for more details.
