1. If i remember right guilty spark says in halo ce if installation 04 fires (or any ring fires for that matter) the rest will follow? (If someone can clarify for me in case that is wrong)

2. in case the fact is that each ring fires indivdually of each other, then why is the only way to seemingly fire them simultaneosly is to go through this bothersome process of purposely misfiring one ring in order to activate the fail-safe to put them all on standby and activate the portal/ark to then fire them all. Would the forerunners have been able to do this at will and the reason for all these extra steps to get to the ark is, although humans are reclaimers (and the covenant is seemingly nothing to the forerunners), neither of these races are obviously forerunner, not giving them any kind of first hand access to these forerunner controls and hence all the fail-safes since humans/covenants would be considered outsiders/foreign to these forerunner systems/ai's?

3. If the rings kill everything for purpose of starving the flood..why after all this time from the rings initial use are the flood not starved to death and still exist on the rings? Do the rings preserve them for analysis and study? I cant see if how its only "containing" them that they are still alive after all this time. They should have eventually starved on the ring, no?

Thanks in advance for anyone willing to clarify.

My assumption is that in the case of a quick fire (not having enough time to get to the Ark to fire them all) a single Halo sends out a signal when the weapon is fired activating all the other rings as well.

2. in case the fact is that each ring fires indivdually of each other, then why is the only way to seemingly fire them simultaneosly is to go through this bothersome process of purposely misfiring one ring in order to activate the fail-safe to put them all on standby and activate the portal/ark to then fire them all. Would the forerunners have been able to do this at will and the reason for all these extra steps to get to the ark is, although humans are reclaimers (and the covenant is seemingly nothing to the forerunners), neither of these races are obviously forerunner, not giving them any kind of first hand access to these forerunner controls and hence all the fail-safes since humans/covenants would be considered outsiders/foreign to these forerunner systems/ai's?The Librarian (possibly just her) programmed the humans to be able to use Forerunner technology, but it was said they did that to make it so Humans could fire the rings if need be.

Humans actually look like Manipular Forerunners (basically child/adolescent) until a certain point in their lives. Anyway, since these Humans are programmed all Forerunner AI systems recognize them as Reclaimers giving them access (possibly FULL access) to Forerunner technologies.

As for the Fail-Safe, it can be assumed if one ring was getting ready to fire but the person to fire it was attacked and killed , then the controls at all Halo installations are locked and the only way to access them is from the Ark from which only the Forerunners KNEW of (before the Flood found out).

In Halo CE the facility on the swampy level was a Forerunner Research and Science Facility for studying the Flood, also the Threshold Mining Station was used to store the Flood and study them as well.

So yes, there were quite a few Flood left alive possibly by accident.

read cryptum this is answered sort of. the prisoner(gravemind supposed) assumes control of 1 of the original 12 rings and the most senior forerunner equivalant to an ai. he then uses this forerunner ai to control 5 of the rings of the 12 assumbled at the forerunner council and attacks them 5 halos are destroyed and 7 survive and regroup at the ark.

also mentioned the librian had species living on each halo to preserve them. if the flood had gotten on their it could have with the help of the prisoner maintained food from them and survived if u dont believe they can remain dormant for long time periods.

and the rings were also in this book sed to have been programmed to fire on any threat on them as a flood defence this means any race except those living on it already of course. the fact that humans were seen as reclaimers isnt surprising since the librian used them in this book and saw them as salvation from the flood since they defeated it already once in past history
