Subject: New Covy Massive Walking Mech Thing?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Good find. Too bad it's just art...and that Bungie isn't making Halo so it probably won't be in any games. We can hope it will be in a book, though.

We will know soon enough, but it will require thought. Deep thought. Mendicant Bias must be found. The Mantle will soon follow.

I think it needs a supernatural spiritual name, like all the others have, like a "Poltergiest" or "Rugaroo" (That made up? That sounds made up...)

Either way its a concept piece im guessing, the image was likely chosen due to the increase in released concept art, so im guessing it was pulled from the game

I wonder when, and if theres any evidence on the reach disk...
Ghost names apply to most Covenant vehicles, but the two other Walkers (Scarab, Locust) are named after insects.

Ironically, insects of ancient egypt, The scarab being a guardian of spirits and the locust being, well, i omen of death :P

So maybe an egyptian insect name? no one likes "Rugaroo?" :P

their spirtual names in egypt so it could still be somthing to do with the supernatural and ensemble made the locust and its never been mentioned outside of halo wars

...

Walkers get insect names, other vehicles get supernatural names. Not really all that much to it other than that as far as names go for the Covenant's vehicles.

Looks like a Locust.
Locusts are Quadrupeds, not Bipeds. They also don't have that profile.

Scarbs have 6 legs in real life not 4 :P

It's a concept art piece, wouldn't look too much into it

I wish bungie would have put a scene like that in game with big vehicle battles, something the game lacks
Scene with a big vehicle battle.

I think it looks like a Phantom with a pair of legs stuck on the back :P
at least the one from the side angle shot does.

What he meant was that Locust and Scarab have supernatural connotations in Egypt.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

I was going to say it was a Scarab, but the ankle parts lacked that decorative armor.

He's talking about the actual Covenant vehicle, the Locust.

I think that, being concept art, it's simply unfinished.

  • 01.31.2011 8:17 PM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Looks like a Locust or some variation of a Scarab. It's just concept art so I wouldn't look too far into it.

This thread is simply theoretical, it is a fun idea if they put it in the next game.

Hey.

I'm awkward. Do you want to be awkward together?

...

That was nice.

Oh man, I can totally imagine that thing running towards me and my group of marines like a freaking Kenyan. Bricks would be shat.

I move that. We shall call it, "Poltergeist"
But that meshes with the naming system. Covenant Walkers are named after insects, not Supernatural entities.

Wou're wrong.
What about ''Ghost'', ''Phantom'' and ''Spectre''.
The name ''Poltergeist'' would fit perfectly.
