IMO The Tyranids would win without doubt but i just want to hear other opinions.

Wow finally a vs thread that isn't stupid.

This idea blew my mind op, and I have to agree with you on this one.

The nature of the tyranids means they have to win hands down right?
I mean they would attack in greater numbers, they carry far more advanced tech, and when they get big they get really big.
A carnifex would tear any flood pure form to pieces right?

There are flood forms the size of dreadnaughts, look at halo legends.Dreadnaughts are +8km.Looks like this flood form will roll over the tyrnaids

depends what type of flood do you mean Pre ring flood or after ring flood. theirs a huge difference in power and size.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

I vote the Flood because they can use human/covenant weapons and vehicles. Besides, the Flood would just infect the Tyranids...

1) Flood infects Tyranids

2) Flood instantly gains all of its knowledge and power.

3) Including weapons.

4) Rinse

5) Repeat

6) ???

7) Profit.

OR:

1) Gravemind kills the local Hivemind.

2) Local Tyranid infestation dies/goes mad

3) ???

4) Profit.

Just looked the Tyranids up. The Flood and the Tyranids are the same in every way, save one.

The Tyranids use several independant central intelligences rather then a singular distributed macro-consciousness.

A lot of people assume the Gravemind was that engorged venus fly trap you speak with in Halo 2. However, while understandably true at first, the Forerunner's description of the Mind states the entire Flood is one single super organism.

This alone begs the question: If the Flood is actually one single "macro-organism," would it even be technically possible for a Flood to get counter-infected by anything else? The Halo 3 Besterium seems to indicate the Flood are immune to all forms of disease, when talking about the societal utopia that is the Flood's "culture."

Anyway, back to my original point. The Gravemind has no tangible corporeal form; the thing you talk too is merely an organ the Gravemind uses to communicate verbally. There is no single weak spot you can strike the Gravemind to kill the Flood off. A lot of people seem to think if you were to MAC the giant plant thing from Halo 2 the entire Flood would be killed.

This is untrue. The primary reason the Tyranids would lose is that they DO have weak spots. Kill the Hivemind or otherwise infect the Norn-Queen and you suddenly have control/or kill off over the entire Hive Fleet.

The only way Tyranids could win is if they kill off the trillions of Flood one by one. Even the Forerunners--who's ground artillery could rip the surface of planets off--couldn't do that. All ground based operations always end in a Flood victory.

Sure the Tyranids have the technology, but then, considering the Flood's methods, so do the Flood.

It is almost impossible to truly defeat the Flood. Their assimilative tactics combined with the Flood Super-Cell make them as perfect an enemy as you can think of.
